Just wrapped up an amazing trip to VMX! Dr. Sturgill, Ali, and Hannah had such a fun time exploring, learning, and connecting. (Not pictured: the 40+ hours of continuing education and lectures!) It was a whirlwind of knowledge and inspiration, but we still managed to squeeze in some laughs and unforgettable memories. Can’t wait to bring everything we learned back to the clinic!

🐾 Why Year-Round Flea & Tick Prevention Matters (Even in Winter!) ❄️

Many people think fleas and ticks disappear in the colder months, but here’s why they’re still a threat:

1️⃣ Fleas Thrive Indoors: Even if it’s freezing outside, central heating creates the perfect environment for fleas to survive and reproduce inside your home.

2️⃣ Ticks Don’t Hibernate: Some tick species remain active in cooler weather and can latch onto pets during mild winter days.

3️⃣ Protection Takes Time: If you stop treatment in winter, you risk gaps in protection. Flea eggs and larvae can survive for weeks and hatch when conditions improve.

4️⃣ Prevent Costly Infestations: Treating a flea or tick infestation is far more expensive and stressful than preventing one.

Keeping your pets on year-round prevention keeps them happy, healthy, and pest-free! Talk to your vet team about the best option for your furry friend. 🐶🐱

Our Story

We began offering daytime, non-emergency health care services in 2009 as a direct result of the requests of our emergency clients at the time. These offerings grew over the years and were complimented by the equipment and instrumentation required by the emergency clinic located in the same facility. Since that time, we have expanded into a new facility as of May, 2017 and now offer vaccination programs, deworming strategies, preventative health care, spay / neuter services, dental services as well as internal medicine case management, orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures. Recently, we have expanded our capabilities to perform stem cell regenerative therapy, laser therapy, acupuncture, physical rehabilitation and have included the capabilities of treating exotic and pocket pets. Our lobby features separate dog and cat waiting areas and a large retail area. Behind the scenes, we have a well-stocked veterinary pharmacy, digital general and dental radiography, a quiet room for visitation along with a spacious treatment area and surgical suite.
