One of our favorite sayings at Second Chance is "Just give it a few days".
Shadow Moon is an FIV+ kitty that has been living at our adoption center for over a year and a half. He is fearful, shy and swats at everyone there. He generally does not make himself very attractive to most people who come by to meet cats.
Due to the recent electrical issues, he had to move to foster care along with all the other cats. One brave foster offered up a room in their house for him, knowing that he may not want any interaction during his "vacation".
Despite his very best efforts at deterring her, she persisted in trying to be his friend. And wouldn't you know it, a couple of weeks later we had a new cat!
Some times all it takes is a little time, someone willing to "just give it a few days", and maybe some good treats too.
Shadow Moon is still looking for his forever home with someone who might be willing to give him the time he needs to settle in and show just how sweet he is. If that may be you, please head to our website to apply! In the mean time, he has earned himself an extended stay away from the adoption center in foster care.

Why give during the holidays?
It's really simple. Chip has important shopping to do.
Now is a great time to give the dogs and cats waiting for homes a chance to have a great Christmas. While we hope they all find homes by then, we can at least help make it a great holiday season.
Give now and help us grant Chip's (and many others) wish come true. ❤️

We are happy to report that last Saturday, mama had 4 healthy kittens. Everyone is doing well!
If you guessed Saturday the 17th, and 4 kittens, this is your sign to buy a lottery ticket! 🤞🏽
Mama update;
Still no kittens! But they sure are active… look closely!
Still time to make your guess… how many kittens and when? 🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱
We are taking bets on when this pregnant mama will have her babies, and how many!
What do you think? 🐱🍼
Mama Update:
We are happy to report that mom did well in surgery and is recovering. Sadly, the two kittens did not make it, despite the vets doing their absolute best to save them. 💔
Mama is home and resting, but was missing her babies, so her foster mom found some orphaned kittens for her. She is thrilled with her adopted babies and is getting to be a mom just once- and won't ever have to do it again!
Thank you everyone who helped by donating, sharing and keeping her in your thoughts. We wish everyone had made it, but we are so glad she was not out in the world alone when this happened.
During a routine trapping, this sweet girl walked right up to our volunteer and rubbed on her. Naturally, we had to pick her up. The volunteer soon realized the cat was very pregnant and needed a safe place to have her kittens!
Today she went into labor, but was having a lot of trouble, as seen in the video. A trip to the vet confirmed that she had two VERY LARGE kittens who would not be able to pass on their own. This is a risk with any cat pregnancy, particularly when it is the first litter. This could have been avoided if she had been fixed and didnt get pregnant in the first place!
Our kitty friend is off to emergency surgery for a c-section and spay, and we need your help! The surgery is $1500 and we need help to fund it. Please consider making a donation to help us help mom and hopefully safely deliver the two kittens!
Updates to come!
