On this Father’s Day there are no words that come close to really describing how full my heart is for all of the fathers and men in my life.

Landon, I can’t imagine doing this parenting thing without you. Our kids are unbelievably lucky to have you as their dad. You love us so well everyday and our kids adore you. Happy Father’s Day.

Dad, you have always been there with advice or a helping hand. You are one of the most generous people I know. I am thankful for everything you have given. You are and forever will be one of my kids favorite people. Thank you for everything. Happy Father’s Day Dad!

Tim, I couldn’t ask for a better father-in-law. Landon’s hardworking, kind, and loyal qualities are something I am positive he inherited from you. And something I can only pray my kids also inherit. I couldn’t be more grateful for you. Happy Father’s Day!

And lastly to all my brothers: Andrew, C**ton and Karsten! Life without you all would be much more dull. Carter, Jace, Cam and Jentry love their uncles. I am eternally grateful for the time/energy each of you pour into me and my family. Happy Father’s Day to all of you too (C**t, I know you aren’t technically a father but you have a big role in my kids life that I can celebrate today if I want to!)

My kids are too young to acknowledge or even know it yet but I am beyond grateful. Grateful that my boys have men close to them, teaching them how to be hardworking, meek, God-fearing leaders. And grateful that my girls have a plethora of men showing them unconditional love, attesting to their inherent value, and teaching them how strong and capable they are.

Having men that live a life of faith daily, that rely on the Lord in difficult times and point back to the Him in the good times is something I will never take for granted.

In conclusion, my heart is just so full. 🥰

C**ton (as written by Landon)- Growing up, my brother and I have always had very different interests. I am not convinced he doesn’t think I am completely insane at times. However, I can say without a doubt that C**ton cares about the success of our program and helps when he can to make all our crazy ideas come to life. When the days get long, and the hours get short- C**ton is our go-to guy to call when we need an extra pair of hands. C**ton has done it all. He has picked-up haying/calving shifts, fenced, worked the cattle, branded, and been present on many late-night road trips. I admire his content “old” soul, his selflessness, his wittiness, and his kindness. We appreciate you and all of your help C**ton Hoffer .

We never want to give a false impression that we do everything all on our own. There are simply not enough hours in the day! Growing up, my grandma always said, “Many hands make for light work”. So, in the spirit of giving credit where credit is due, we are implementing a post each week. For the foreseeable future, we are going to be highlighting people that have helped us along the way.

One reason we love this lifestyle is because it creates opportunities for us to work with family and friends that we don’t get to on a regular basis. Having family that is willing to help always turns the “work” into a “gathering”! We have to give credit where credit is due. Between breeding, calving, sorting, hauling, branding, general shots, mowing, raking, baling, paperwork and the documentation of it all we wouldn’t be where we are today without the help we’ve received. There are no words that can express our gratitude to the many hands that have pitched in, and boy-oh-boy let me tell you… it definitely makes the work feel lighter!

It was a quiet and peaceful morning at the ranch today as the fog set in on our herd while they grazed.

Landon’s Grandpa Preszler and his uncle Chad raised Red Angus in South Dakota while Landon was growing up. Many of Landon’s memories growing up at the farm were of him “just hanging out with the cattle”. Following in his family’s footsteps, Landon purchased five Red Angus heifers between 2007 and 2010, using them as 4-H and FFA supreme heifer projects in high school.

In 2015, we purchased 130 head of mixed breed cattle through an FSA loan. Our goal has always been to raise quality Red Angus that perform well at high altitude. However, the conditions of our loan dictated the number of cows we had to keep so we couldn’t purchase our “dream” herd from the get-go.

Hindsight being what it is, we are grateful for the process of weeding out the other breeds and the commercial cattle because it has given us the time to get to know the genetics of both our current cattle as well as cattle we’d like to see within our herd. Over the last three years, we have worked to have a 100% registered Red Angus herd. Now we look forward to getting to refine the herd’s genetics over our lifetime.

Our hay company started in 2008. It started out as Landon & his father putting up neighboring ditches and small acreages. It has grown into us haying over 2000 acres around Wyoming & Colorado. This business holds a special place in my heart because the whole operation is truly a family affair. Landon’s parents and brother are still very actively involved and run one set of equipment while Landon, myself and the best possible recruited help (usually my cousins, or brother) run another set.

Anyone that puts up hay knows there is bound to be some “ups and downs” within a season. However, what is amazing to me is when you are reflecting on the season, there is always an element of nostalgia that comes with it. Even through the worst of it (the LONG hours in a tractor day after day, uncooperative weather, or the late nights fixing ANOTHER piece of equipment) I wouldn’t change the time I get with my family for anything.

It all started with a dream from this guy……

Landon has always wanted to own a ranch, have cattle, the works! He has worked… and WORKED to make this dream a reality. It has been HARD, and at times not progressing as quickly as we would like. Nevertheless, the process has been beautiful to witness.

We are thankful for where we are but Lord willing, nowhere near complete. We have big ideas and an even bigger drive to see them come to life.

Hello friends! For those of you who don't know, I am Amy. My husband's name is Landon and we have four kids: Carter, Jace, Cameron & Jentry. We are a normal family that was crazy enough to try to get into the ranching realm.

Recently, we decided (and were told) that this process is worth documenting. The day-to-day life is hectic. Equipment breaks down, cattle get sick, the kids are crazy, you don't always get the vacation you've been planning and there is a NEVER-ending list of things that need done. In documenting this process, our hope is to become deliberately grateful in recognizing our blessings even in the hard moments, that we can educate people interested in this lifestyle, and that we maybe can make someone smile every now and then.

In this moment, our hearts are full, and we are excited for all the things yet to come.

She is a very moderate made female weighing in at 1150 pounds but boasts 15 EPDs in the top 35% of the breed!

Plainsman is a maternal brother to LSF SRR EZ-Factor 9056G. Plainsman has 8 EPDs in the top 15% of the breed and even more impressively, 0 EPDs in the bottom 30% of the breed!
