For the health of our feline friends, we make sure every route is taken for the best preventative care. Cats usually don't show symptoms until their condition is really bad. Getting preventative testing done regularly helps uncover any hidden conditions that develop.

Does your dog have trouble with ear infections? Do they constantly shake their head or scratch their ears?

Ear infections are common conditions in dogs, especially those with floppy ears. The ear canal is forming an L shape, which tends to hold fluid. This is what makes dogs more prone to ear infections. They are typically caused by bacteria, yeast, or a combination of both. Dogs can also get ear infections from allergies, diseases/disorders, wax buildup, foreign bodies, excessive cleaning, and injury to the ear canal.
Some activities that can cause ear infection are swimming, grooming, and baths.

If you notice any discharge, odor, redness, swelling, or pain in the ears, WE CAN HELP!
Call the clinic at 505-869-2627 to get an appointment and get your dogs ears feeling better!

During the summer, we have to keep in mind our dogs paws can get burned while on walks. When its 104 outside, sidewalk temps hit 149 degrees while asphalt is about 162 degrees. A dogs pad can burn at 140 degrees in about 1 minute.

Some tips to help keep your dogs paws safe during the hot weather:
-Go for walks in the morning or in the evenings when the sun isn't as hot.
-Walk at parks in the grass.
- stay off pavement.
- beware your dogs paw may be more sensitive to hot surfaces after being in water.
- ALWAYS test the ground with your hand or barefoot for 7 seconds. If the ground is to hot for you then its to hot for their paws.

Have you ever heard the phase ‘no hoof, no horse.’?
National Farrier Week gives us the opportunity to express appreciation and honor the skills of our hard-working farriers. Horse owners realize that our farrier is an important factor in our horse’s overall care and wellbeing.
The phase is very true. Without the proper care from the hoof care experts, your horse could develop major health issues.
