Service Dogs learn that when the vest is on they must behave a certain way. This is a vest etiquette session with Luna.

How do Service Dogs stay so good?
Stay training with Coal.
If your dog starts so slip up or mess up in a trained behavior, then dedicated some sessions to reinforcing the command. Is it okay to hug your dog? That depends entirely on the dog's confert and behavior.
Back to the basics. Reinforcing "get dressed" with Coal. Also, hear my opinion on hugging your dog.
Big things moving and plastic bags can be frightening to a dog.
Coal is work on tolerance today.
Asking Coal to help.
Service Dog In Training Coal had an random emergency alert test. Coal has learned that "help" means to hit a target with his paws or snout, which will make an emergency call to get help for his handler.
Making the training more real for Coal. His handler won't be standing up or sitting on the couch when Coal needs to alert.
More task work with Coal. He has made great progress on 3 days. I didn't think he would do so well when I started laying down!
Coal's emergency alert task work training.
Right now we are having 3-5 session a day to practice and reinforce the "HELP" command. I can now be about 20 feet away, use no hand signals, and get a good response. I found that keeping treats near the target, instead of with me, is helping with accuracy. Watch for the behavior I call new command syndrome. This is where a dog does a newly learned behavior at inappropriate times. This is part of dog learning. A dog will try a new behavior over and over to see if it works to get a reward. This is where the dog learns that a particular behavior is only rewarding when a particular command is given.
