This is Uma. She was picked up from the 400 block of 157 and taken to BAC by the Bossier sheriff department. She has no microchip detected. She has some non life threatening wounds and is currently at Bossier animal control (BAC) on a stray hold. If you recognize her, please inform her owners so she can be released . She was brought to our hospital by BAC to be euthanized. When we noticed that she had just arrived today, BAC was contacted and asked why she wasn’t going to receive her 72 hrs. I was told they didn’t have to wait due to their opinion she was in pain and suffering. When I indicated I didn’t feel the same, I was asked if I did an exam. They were informed I didn’t do a complete exam but had seen enough to determine she should be on stray hold before being euthanized. She should be at BAC unless she was euthanized elsewhere. I contacted the mayors office and spoke with someone representing the mayor and was told they have recently had some staff changes and the issues would soon improve. I informed them that was what I was told about a year ago and thus far no changes. They felt like we should see something in about a month. I have been trying to talk about their failure to follow the current policies for several months and with the exception of two councilmen, have been ignored.I was told Change can’t happen overnight. I informed them it could if they would communicate with the people concerned and follow the policies and procedures that are currently in place. Please help me get the word out about Uma and the other issues. Maybe together we can stimulate some change for the better. Thank you , Dr Snyder
UPDATE. UPDATE. UPDATE.
We called BAC to check on Uma this morning , we advised them we would adopt her after the stray hold was completed. We asked how she was doing and if she was still alive. We were told they could not give out any information on her.
I personally visited BAC at about 1:30 to inquire about Uma. I received the
