K9 Officer Tobyne and his partner, K9 Apex, recently responded to a mutual aid call to assist a neighboring police department. Upon arrival, K9 Apex quickly went to work, leading officers through a wooded area in search of a suspect who had fled on foot.

Thanks to K9 Apex’s strong tracking skills and Officer Tobyne’s quick response, the suspect was located after a brief chase and safely taken into custody by responding officers.

Great work by K9 Officer Tobyne, K9 Apex, and all officers involved — an excellent example of teamwork and dedication to keeping our communities safe!

EXETER – Last night at approximately 11:37 pm, Exeter Police responded to a single car motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of the North Hampton Rd at Rt. 101. Upon arrival, the vehicle was abandoned and an area search was performed by our Exeter Police K9 Unit. Exeter Police K9 Handler Ofc. Connor Kennedy and K9 Bobo located a male subject that was determined to be the operator and sole occupant of the crashed vehicle near the overpass. As a result,

was arrested and taken into custody. He was charged with the following Misdemeanors: DUI 2nd, Conduct After an Accident, and Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device Circumvention. Field is expected to be arraigned at the 10th Circuit Court in Brentwood on August 7, 2025 for the Exeter charges.

Statements made by Field prompted Exeter Officers to contact the Newmarket Police and request a welfare check at a residence in their town. As a result, the NH Attorney General’s Office is currently investigating the untimely death of a woman.

Congratulations to Exeter Police K9 Handler Ofc. Connor Kennedy and K9 Bobo (Fox Hill’s Bobo) on successfully completing the BPD K9 Academy!

Bobo is from our B litter (Hyro Ostraryka x Christie vom Esadera) and was raised and trained by the exceptional team at Rey Del Norte Working Dogs. It’s an honor to see one of our own out there making a real impact.

We’re excited to watch this team continue to grow and serve — big things ahead. Stay safe out there, and keep making us proud!

Join us at Danvers High School this Saturday and Sunday as the Essex County Sheriff’s Department hosts the USPCA Region 4 K9 Certification Trials!

Watch police K9 teams from across the region compete in obedience, agility, evidence recovery, and criminal apprehension. This is a rare chance to see these incredible dogs in action and meet their handlers! Our Department will have three teams competing, including Deputy Shane Tobyne and his K9 partner Apex who are shown in this photo!
