Puppy class adorable chaos!! #positivereinforcement #puppy

When working with a dog that gets too excited around people/dogs/bikes/etc, it’s important to provide them with a reinforcement rate that works for them. Po gets super excited, so when there are a lot of people around him, he needs a high rate of reinforcement. Over time, you can thin that rate of reinforcement, but the rate at which you thin the reinforcers has to be at the pace of the learner. Thin them too fast, and all your hard work is out the window.

Good boy Poe has a history of getting too excited when he’s around new people, and wants to jump up and say hi. He did amazing on our training walk today where we practiced staying calm while walking by strangers! #positivereinforcement #dogtraining #makingfetchhappen
