Happy International Women’s Day! Today is a day to take a moment to pause and celebrate the incredible women who shape our workplace and inspire us daily. We have been a woman owned business for 4+ years and we are so lucky to have some amazing women on staff! We are grateful for the hard work and care they put in every day-not just in their roles on the veterinary team but in all areas of life. It is these women’s dedication, vision, and ability to inspire others that have helped shape our success. Wishing every woman a Happy International Woman’s Day!!! ❤️

From Cornell’s Feline Health Center - Recently H5N1 influenza cases have been reported in cats that have consumed contaminated commercial raw food diets, unpasteurized milk, or had contact with wild birds and cattle. Consider discontinuing your pet’s raw diet. Even if their raw food is human grade, frozen, or freeze dried, this does not prevent the potential spread of pathogenic bacteria, parasites, or H5N1 that may be present in the food. Consider cooking your pet’s raw food and/or consulting your veterinarian about diet change.
Limit your pet’s access to wild birds that may be carrying the virus and avoid giving them raw milk.

Halloween is almost here!!! Our staff got in the spirit by decorating some pumpkins for the season. Come by and drop a vote for your favorite pumpkin during regular business hours from 10/25-10/31! All the pumpkins will be up front and numbered until Halloween, and all votes are anonymous, so come on by, fur friends are welcome as always! Happy spooky season! 🎃👻

This week will be exceptionally hot - please protect your pets by minimizing outdoor time - keep walks brief, do not leave pets unattended in cars, do not tie them out even in the shade and make sure they have free access to water and cool environments.

Sidewalks can get very hot in this weather so consider bringing back the booties to avoid contact burns. Wetting your pet down will not cool them down (and can actually trap heat) - if you wet them down to cool they need a fan/ac to evaporate the moisture off (which causes cooling).

Brachycephalic pets are exceptionally at risk - so this is the week to leave your frenchies, bulldogs and Boston terriers home on the couch in the ac!

If your pet needs to get some energy out - consider working on a new trick, reminding them of their obedience training or feed their meals in a snuffle mat to engage their brain

If you think your pet is suffering from heat stroke - time is of the essence please seek emergency care asap!

You may not be aware that “birch sugar” and “birch sap” are the same thing as xylitol- it is important for pet owners to be familiar with these terms when reading product labels. If xylitol toxicity is suspected or you know your pet has ingested a product with xylitol in it, seek immediate veterinary care!
