Trying so hard to do so good!
Two of my best boys giving an excellent demonstration of our practice in the forest. We practice a lot of play based engagement and have a few rules to keep everyone safe. We practice our sit stays regularly so that they’re automatic when we need them. Usually to be respectful of other dogs/people passing by, but also to keep the dogs safe from wild animals, like the large deer we saw today.
I like to start my packs over at the sheepfold when possible to get lots of zooms out while getting my dogs to focus on my lead. This sets us up for success on the hike, and lets my friends socialize a little with other friendly off leash dogs. I am the doggy ambassador, introducing dogs with friendly hello’s and diffusing any tension with a little redirection.
I absolutely love my doggy friends and my job.
I love animals of all kinds. This morning while I was walking my little man around the building, I almost stepped on this little bird, who was clearly overheated and maybe a little lost. Realizing that it was unlikely to survive the extreme heat staying where it was, I decided to take matters into my own hands and help the little one out. I was able to pick them up pretty easily, and put them into the AC in my car on our way to a more wild section of the river where I gently let them go, hoping they live long and prosper ❤️
