An extremely overdue student brag post! I’m going to consider all student nose work teams my Valentines - and I’m lucky enough to see some of them tonight!

In December several of these teams competed at an NACSW NW1 trial - handlers pictured below. A couple got started at an Odor Recognition Test - dogs pictured below. Belated congratulations to all teams.

Despite it being hot, "Freya" keeps it cool. Learning front paw targeting for confidence building around the neighborhood. She picked up on this behavior so fast! The look says it all.

Long overdue Carol appreciation post. Earlier this year, Carol officially became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, Inc.

To receive this certification, a trainer needs to have completed 300 hours of training in the last 3 years, sign a code of ethics, and take a 200 question test! Whew! Dog training isn't a regulated industry, but we strive to make sure we are doing our best to support your families by staying up to date with our training knowledge and skills.

Good reminders! Have a safe night, all!

On July 4, many animals become startled or frightened by the noise of fireworks. This may cause them to flee from familiar environments and people, and sadly become lost.

Ensure they are wearing their tags and that their microchips are current with correct contact information. New technology includes GPS collars and geo location tags.

Provide safe zones and sound buffers indoors to minimize stress.

If they must go outside, they must be on a leash.
