Thank you to all of our nation's veterans for their service to our country. In honor of Veterans Day, we're highlighting a special dog who recently graduated from the Shelter to Soldier program and proudly serves Jessica, USMC veteran, as her psychiatric service dog.

Our partners at Shelter to Soldier tell us that DNA testing can be a game-changer for dogs like Wagner. Knowing a dog's genetic makeup helps tailor their training, so that they can excel at tasks that are crucial for assisting veterans with specific needs.

🌟 Service Dog Spotlight: Morris! 🌟
September is National Service Dog Month! And we’re so excited to introduce you to Morris, the NEADS Service Dog with a legacy. 🐾

During training, it was clear that Morris possessed many of the traits that would make him an amazing service dog. Traits like:
🐕‍🦺 A steady focus
🐕‍🦺 A calm demeanor
🐕‍🦺 A tall frame
🐕‍🦺 Motivated to open doors and retrieve dropped items

In January 2024, Morris fathered a litter of seven puppies, all now in training to follow in his footsteps! 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

And in April, Morris was matched with NEADS Service Dog client David. Kara Milotte, NEADS Manager of Client Services, shares, “It’s heartwarming to see how well David and Morris have bonded. Knowing that Morris can retrieve dropped items, open doors, and help him in so many ways has given David a newfound sense of independence and confidence.”
