The public comment period for the DCR's redesign of the Southwest Corridor Park has been extended until July 9! But please don't wait. Make your voice heard and let the DCR know how important it is to have multiple dog parks along the corridor that will accommodate both active, larger dogs and smaller dogs. The original plan was to build a dog park along the Oakdale train tracks location and this would have been 23,500 sf! Unfortunately, the DCR is now backing off of this plan in favor of a much smaller space (10,000 sf) at the Everett Street "Train Tot Lot" area. Please let them know that size does matter when it comes to having a space for dogs to safely move around one another during active play. Ask them to reconsider the Oakdale site and/or make the Everett dog park as large as possible. It's up to you! The more people speak up, the better! Thank you!

Submit a comment to DCR on a proposed capital project, policy, or program.

Southwest Corridor Park Action Plan
Public Meeting #3
Tuesday May 21 st , 2024 @ 6pm – 8:00pm
Pre-register at the link below.

At this virtual public meeting the project team will present recommendations for the Southwest Corridor Park Action Plan.
DCR will incorporate feedback from this meeting into a plan to be shared at a final public meeting in June.
The Southwest Corridor Park is a 52-acre, 4-mile corridor running from Back Bay Station to Forest Hills Station that is
both a greenway facilitating access to eight transit stations and an important recreational facility with community gardens,
basketball and tennis courts, a skate park, and playgrounds. Opened in 1987-1990, the park is due for renewed attention and
investment. DCR seeks public input to create a vision for both short- and long-term investments that renovate and
modernize the park while strengthening and supporting the communities it serves.
The public will be invited to ask questions and provide feedback on the presentation, using the Q&A functionality that will
be available through the virtual participation platform. After the meeting, the presentation will be available for viewing
at https://www.mass.gov/dcr/past-public-meetings. DCR encourages the public to share additional feedback, with a
deadline for receipt of comments by DCR of June 4 th , 2024. Comments may be submitted online
at http://www.mass.gov/dcr/public-comment. Please note that the content of comments you submit to DCR, along with your
name, town, and zip code, will be posted on DCR& #39;s website. Additional contact information required when commenting,
notably email address, will only be used for outreach on future updates on the subject project or property.
If you have agency-related questions or concerns or would like to be added to an email list to receive DCR general or
project-specific announcements, please email [email protected] or call 617-626-4973.

Please register and attend this important meeting regarding Franklin Park. This meeting will focus on how the FP Action Plan will support (or not) the proposed White Stadium design. Unfortunately, the White Stadium plan cuts into parkland where we were considering a dog park might be appropriate. We will have a chance to ask that dog parks are not forgotten as this project rolls forward. An alternative site is to include a dog park along the new walkway from the Glen Road entrance. The city will be rebuilding the pathway and could easily move it over to accommodate a dog park, if enough people asked for it. As always, these decisions are based upon who shows up and asks, so please attend and bring a neighbor!
