There is a lot of uncertainty right now, and we understand the very real concerns about losing access to protections or services that trans folks have. It’s important to understand what is protected at the state level.

In Colorado, several laws and policies exist to protect the rights of trans individuals, particularly in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, and healthcare.

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. As an equestrian and someone who has struggled with their mental health, I’ve found turning to the steady presence and gentle power of horses has been the most healing. Here’s how equine-assisted therapy works.

As much as we might want to hold on to the warmer days, it's time to start thinking about the upcoming winter season! In Colorado, the first snow or freeze can hit as early as October, so now is the perfect time to prepare your barn and horses for those chilly months ahead.

It's Welfare Wednesday and we have another tip from the PATH Intl. equine welfare committee! We all know that the equines in EAS programs should receive regular, preventative veterinary care. But did you know that there are options outside of standard veterinary care that you can consider to enhance your equine's wellbeing? This includes chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage therapy, and PEMF among others. Learn more about some of these complimentary therapies and why you might use them here: https://loom.ly/qg0uB5w

Update to RMRT Community and Families:

As you know, we have started the closure of RMRT. Catherine Mathon, a longtime friend of RMRT who has extensive experience in the Equine Assisted Services community, has expressed interest in taking over and trying to restart RMRT so that families can continue receiving services as they have in the past.

As the new team is conducting due diligence work and setting up a new business plan, RMRT will remain closed. The new team will update RMRT's status when ready to reopen and resume. We want to take this time to reset and reevaluate our business model and fundraising needs so that RMRT can continue to exist for another 30 years.

Our Story

RMRT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit therapeutic horseback riding program located in South Boulder. We work with children and adults with a variety of physical, cognitive and/or emotional needs, providing therapy and recreational opportunities that involve interaction with horses.

Our goal is to help each rider reach their fullest potential as a human being and as a horseperson. Riding not only improves muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination and motor development, but also the rider's confidence and emotional well-being.

RMRT provides services through mounted and unmounted programs each year to 150 participants ranging in age from 3 years old through teenagers and seniors.
