Tooth be told, nothing makes us cheese as hard as seeing your pet with a healthy smile! Did you know that around 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over the age of 2 have some form of periodontal disease often causing chronic pain and inflammation? That’s why it’s not only important to care for your pet’s teeth at home, but also have them see their vet for dental cleanings as well.

We have a new technician on our team! Please welcome Alexis when you see her.
Alexis is from Colorado; she left for a while but then came back to be near family. She has her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University and also attended Bel Rea for her veterinary technician degree and license. She is fear-free certified and certified in both basic and advanced life saving techniques for small animals. Alexis loves helping animals and their owners. She is fascinated by the medical side of veterinary medicine and loves that there is always more to learn. She enjoys working on a team, especially with so many great technicians and doctors.
Outside of work, Alexis trains guide dogs for the blind. Her dog, Bamboo, is a golden/lab cross who was in training as a guide dog before he changed careers to become her pet. Alexis is also part of a dance troop in Boulder.

Meet Caroline, our new Veterinary Assistant! Caroline is from Colorado and is currently attending the University of Colorado Boulder as a pre-veterinary student. She is fear free certified and an EMT. She was drawn to veterinary medicine because of the joy she found volunteering at animal shelters and making a difference in the lives of animals. Her favorite aspect of this field is the community it fosters among providers and pet parents as well as having the opportunity to make animals feel better when they can’t advocate for themselves.
Outside of work Caroline competes in USA powerlifting, loves doing yoga, paints, cooks, goes thrifting, and goes hiking. Her current pet is Albert, a long-haired kitty cat that loves cuddles.

Limping is a classic sign of pain in pets, but it’s not the most common. Senior pets learn to adapt to their discomfort by changing how they move. These compensations can appear as changes in behavior or personality when they’re actually masking chronic pain.

Is your senior pet’s mobility not quite what it used to be? Schedule an appointment online! Link in bio.

Meet Dr. Amanda Burdette! She has been a part of the Boulder Veterinary Hospital family for 7 years.

Dr. Burdette is from Westchester, NY but moved to Colorado in 1999. She completed her undergraduate degree at Colgate University, spent two years at the University of Colorado Boulder, and then received her DVM from Colorado State University. She utilizes fear-free techniques, pain management, and preventive medicines with the goal of seeing patients living their best lives.

Dr. Burdette spends her time outside of the hospital with her husband, two teenagers, dog Ginger, and cats Theo and Sonny. They like to hike and ski together as a family. On her own time, Dr. Burdette reads, trail runs, bakes, cooks, and tells herself to restart her yoga practice.
