A Rescue that inspired a career as a Neurology technician: Stewie Chilcote’s Story!

🐾 In 2007, a delightful dachshund named Stewie became a beloved member of Jillian's family, thanks to the Dachshund Rescue of North America.

Stewie faced significant challenges, including battling Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD), which led to two crucial surgeries. His first surgery, performed by the skilled Dr. Neravanda right here at our hospital in 2015, was not just a medical procedure—it was a life-changing moment for Jillian. Witnessing Stewie's resilience and the expert care provided by our neurology team, Jillian was inspired to pursue a career in veterinary neurology after graduating from vet tech school.

🌈 Though Stewie has since crossed the rainbow bridge, his spirit and the impact he had on Jillian continue to resonate. His journey is what brought Jillian to our team, where she now helps pets face their own neurological challenges with compassion and expertise.

🎉🐾 Today, we celebrate National Dog Rescue Day by sharing a heartwarming tale from our own community! 🎉🐾

Meet Sydney and her brave pup, Rambo. Born with a rare heart vessel anomaly, Rambo struggled with eating and frequently regurgitated his food, putting him at risk for severe complications. His condition meant he couldn't consume solid food and required around-the-clock care.

That's when Sydney, one of our dedicated staff, stepped in to give Rambo the forever home. With love and perseverance, she syringe-fed him every four hours and ensured he stayed upright after each meal to aid digestion.

Thanks to Sydney's commitment and our advanced medical support, Rambo underwent successful surgery to correct his condition. While he still faces challenges, he's thriving and growing stronger each day.

Let's hear it for Sydney and all the wonderful people who have rescued! Your passion gives countless dogs like Rambo a second chance at life ♥

Today our hospital celebrates Earth Day. As a business involved with animals, we prioritize preserving their habitats. We’re committed to minimizing our carbon footprint and advancing green initiatives.

Did you know? In 2021, we made the switch from bulk plastic utensils to reusable ones, which are provided to every new hire. We're also proud to partner with the National Forest Foundation, supporting efforts in wildfire recovery and ecosystem restoration. Each year, we help plant 200 trees across the United States, from Florida to Alaska.

Even small changes make a big difference. As Lady Bird Johnson said, "The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share."

Easter egg hunting is one of the most exciting parts of the holiday for kids and adults alike. While engaging in this fun tradition, let's keep our curious pets in mind to prevent any mishaps.

Hard-boiled eggs are generally okay for cats and dogs if they happen upon one, but be mindful that the paint or dye on the shells shouldn't be ingested. If your Easter celebration includes hiding plastic eggs with treats inside, it's important to make sure all eggs are accounted for after the hunt. Leftover hidden eggs could pose a risk if your pet finds them later on.
