Want a furry companion to help you cram for Finals and melt away stress during your study breaks?

Wednesday, March 12th, WCHS will be hosting our very first After Hours Study Hall for our animal-loving students who want a break from the library scenery!

Study Hall will begin at 5pm, after we close for the day, and is open to Students Only to keep things quiet and calm for the ideal study environment.

Wifi is available along with your choice of our available blankets and cushions for maximum study comfort

Food / Drink is welcome (with caution) Water is available, just ask!

Students must be over 15 years old to participate without a guardian on premise.

you chose a trip to the park for Vhagar's next activity and we obliged!

Vhagar's first trip to the park was a lot of discovery, particularly the wonderful taste of sticks, the terrors of a Goose's rage, and just how fast her lil legs can go!

Vhagar just turned 3 months old and is more than ready to get out of shelter and into a home of her very own just like her siblings! Vhagar is up to date on vaccines for her age, microchipped, and spayed.

Welcome back once again to Friday Night Staff Favorites!

Next up is one of our newer Animal Care Employees, Tera!

Tera previously worked in child care and volunteered with us before making the transition to animal care and becoming a full-fledged WCHS Employee!

Cat🐈: Cera!
"My favorite shelter cat is probably Cera. She's such a cutie who has an interesting way of getting to her favorite spots, like her squirming through the small hole in her favorite fish bed and poking her lil head out of the teeniest window in her favorite box."

Dog🐕: Violet (again)
"Violet's just such a sweetheart even when she's wary of strangers. She has the sweetest smile when she's getting pets and cuddles, especially belly rubs. Also how much she loves her toys and shows them off to everyone that comes by!"

At 15 years old, Natasha Lyonne is a little surprised to be back on the adoption market but after everything life has thrown at her she's more than ready and able to tackle this challenge!

Natasha was brought to WCHS at 3 years old back in 2013. She was found as a stray and in pretty rough shape but after some much needed TLC and lots of kisses, Natasha was adopted and off to her new home!

Now, 12 years later, Ms Natasha is now 15 and back with WCHS after her beloved family was no longer able to take care of her. Adjustment was a bit rough to start with but nothing can keep Natasha from living her best life, in her own personal kitty suite, while she searches for her retirement home!

Natasha Lyonne isn't the biggest fan of other pets and would prefer to be your main focus to absorb maximum attention! She has potential to get along with another cat as long as they can respect her boundaries!

Natasha Lyonne is the perfect companion for busy folk who just want to come home and decompress after a long day with a kitty at your side. She's not big on lots of cuddles and pets but she loves spending quality time together, the occasional snuggle, and maybe even lap time if you're lucky!

Natasha Lyonne is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. At 15 years old, Natasha qualifies for our Senior Furr Senior adoption deal and can be adopted free of cost to any human over the age of 55.

The perfect Doggy Days Out candidate and maybe even... more?

Official Good Boy, Scout is energetic, playful, friendly, affectionate, AND he knows TWO tricks! Is there a more perfect companion?

At just a year old, Scout is the perfect new family addition. While he does need some work and patience with his manners, Scout is eager to please and more than willing to learn with whoever is willing to give him a chance!

With his luminous green eyes that pierce your very soul, a jawline like a pizza cutter, and a meow like a trash compactor, Spike has mastered the art of serving face.

Before coming to WCHS, Spike was kept in a compact space by a well-meaning friend who couldn't take care of him the way he needed. Through the work of our valiant Humane Agents, we took Spike in as a new guest, gave him some cozy new digs, and got him to Dr. Huff!

Now Mr. Spike is up-to-par (minus an ear infection) and running Cat Room and monopolizing the whole snuggle economy! With his big hands, cute biscuits, come hither eyes, and skill at warming laps, inflation has never been higher.

Spike is 5 years old, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He is currently undergoing treatment for his aforementioned ear infection but will be available for adoption after he's in tip-top shape. As you can see we're starting 2025 off with a bang🎉

Even without our own on-staff veterinarian we still managed to adopt out 46 guests into their forever home in just a month!

Thank you Dr. Huff and Midway Animal Hospital for your kindness to us and our furry guests; we truly could not save so many lives without your generosity and hard work

And a special thank you to everyone who donated pet items: wet food, treats, toys, and all those good add ons! While we pay for kibble to keep tummies full, all those extras come entirely through donations from you! So thank you for keeping our guests bougie, entertained, and loved

We have dogs for every activity level!

Vhagar is the last of Mama Violet's puppies to find her forever home!

thanks to our Volunteer Coordinator, Vhagar has the opportunity to not have to spend any more time growing up in shelter and is in foster getting some real-world experience so she can be the best puppy she can be for her new family!

The Prince told of in our ✨Prophecies✨ has returned!

Prince Titus is 8 months old and ready for a kingdom of his own! This handsome little guy is a true long hair kitty with the most beautiful silky coat. Prince Titus is so sweet he's even warming up our resident Grandma Zena!

Prince Titus absolutely adores other cats and would love a feline friend given the opportunity! He's great with kids with his chill attitude, laid back demeanor, and his patience with shenanigans. Prince Titus has never met a dog so we don't now how he'd feel about that and advise a good slow introduction to let him get used to such a large new friend!

Scout had the Doggy Day Out of a lifetime with our sweet volunteers! These fantastic ladies took Mr. Scout on a walk, a shopping spree, and to Starbucks for a pup cup of course!

If you'd like to help one of our furry guests get a day out, contact us about our Doggy Day Out program! After completing a single form you can take the shelter guest of your choice for a day of fun. Take them home for a nap and cuddle sesh, take them to the park, the pet store, or even just for a drive, it's up to you!

Give us a call or email if you're interested in giving a shelter dog the best day ever!

This handsome man is also available for adoption! It took Scout only two days of residence at WCHS to be deemed The Goodest Boy and for good reason. At a year old, Scout knows sit, paw, and how to serve face. He’s still young so he definitely has some puppy energy and would love a fenced-in yard to play in or an active family for walks, playtime, and maybe a run!

Favorite Things: playing, running laps, treats, hugs, sprinting, new friends, & kisses

Kids👶: Scout loves humans of all shapes and sizes!
Dogs🐕: Scout likes other dogs, especially when it comes to play time!
Cats🐈: Scout hasn’t met a cat before so we aren’t too sure how he’d feel about a feline friend.

Only one more puppy to go before all of Mama Violet's babies have found their new homes!

Vhagar may be one of the smallest of her liter but she makes up for it in gumption and bravery that shouldn't be possible in a dog so little! This playful little lady loves toys of all kinds and will make anything a toy if she runs out of squeakable options! Even if she has to play by herself, Vhagar is going to have a blast. She really enjoys playing with other dogs, even if they're 5x her size she's going to hold her own and maybe get knocked over a few times, but this fierce pup will always get back up and keep playing!

Vhagar was born Nov. 1st, 2024 and is dark brown, almost black. She is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated to age. It's unlikely she'll grow bigger than her mom who is under 50lbs. We believe the dad to be a Beagle and we know mom is a pittbull-husky mix.

Cuddler extraordinaire, Simon The Ice King, is officially out of brothers to cuddle with!

Simon, Earl, Jake, & Finn all arrived to WCHS together after being found as kittens by a kind person who fostered them until we had the space to bring them in and get 'em all fixed up! After a week of cuddle puddles and grooming sessions, Simon is now officially the last brother waiting on his forever home.

Don't let his title fool you, while Simon does rule over the frigid domain, he's the kind of guy that'll always be at your side (maybe above you) to warm your lap, hinder any computer work in search of affection, and, most importantly, watch for threats.

Playful doesn't begin to cover it for this handsome man. Be it a spring toy, a ball, or even a scrap of cardboard, Simon is going to play with whatever is at his disposal and have a blast doing it! He loves to finish off his play sessions with a good amount of scratches before he returns to show that spring toy who's boss.

Simon The Ice King is 6 months old, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines and boosters.

Nine down, two to go!

Mama Violet's puppies are big and strong and ready to make their way into doghood in their forever homes🎉

Purple (striped blue sweater) is a little bigger than her sister but is definitely the softy of the two. She loves her cuddle time with people and will definitely come running every time she sees a pair of waiting arms!

Gray (pink coat) is the smaller of the pair and one of the smallest pups of her whole liter, but don't let her size fool you. Gray is always ready and willing to throw down with a good toy or try her hand at tackling a dog 5x her size. No matter what the challenge, Gray is up to it!

The girls were born on November 1st and are now 12 weeks old! They've been spayed, microchipped, and have received all of their vaccines to age. They are potentially half Beagle and their mom is a pit-mix & 47lbs.
