Interested in a cuddlebug but still have a full time job and lots of things to do?

Meet the illustrious ✨Ms Zena✨

At a mere 5 years old, Zena had spent her entire life in a single house with two orange cat siblings and their human. After their human had some bad heath issues, they could no longer take care of their cats and that's when we welcomed Zoe, Zena, and Zeus into our shelter in September of 2024.

Her siblings, Zoey and Zeus, found their forever homes in less than a month of arriving at our shelter and are off living their best orange lives with their new families, leaving Zena to stay with us while we continue to search for her new forever.

Even from the beginning she's been the biggest cuddle bug with lots of sass to back it up if you even think about not stopping for a pat! From her coat to her meow, everything about this lady is beautiful and unique.

Zena likes mouse toys in particular with laser pointers being a close second. She is a lover and adores cuddling up with any nearby human, whether its laying down together for a nap, working, watching TV, or just hanging out, Zena will be at your side (usually sleeping).

Zena has been searching for her new forever for 123 days. She's seen a lot of cats come and go and yet she still sits at the window and watches to make sure she'll be the first one to receive any incoming cuddles! From her cuddly nature to her cute antics (she suckles on her blankie and drags it around when she's feeling particularly affectionate) this girl would mesh well into most families.

Zena is microchipped, spayed, fully vaccinated, and more than ready to snuggle up in a new forever home!

A face this sweet AND she was just bathed🛁 Does it really get any better than this?

Mira is 4 years old and built like a wrecking ball with a heart of 24 karat gold. Like 24 karat gold, she's a little soft but pure as can be! If you're looking for a cuddle bug there isn't a more perfect dog. Miss Mira isn't satisfied until she's cuddled up right next to you as close as can be! If you aren't cuddling her she can be found playing with the occasional toy, sleeping, or, most likely, waiting for the next cuddle session!

Mira has proven to be exceptionally well potty trained. While there is always the chance she might have an accident or two in a new environment, we've seen nothing like that since she's arrived. Miss Mira has yet to have any accidents while in shelter.

The love she has for people is truly unconditional. With Mira around you never have to worry about not being greeted when you get home ever again because this gorgeous lady will always be happy to see you no matter how long you were gone!

🐕Dogs: Mira is not good with other dogs and would love to be the only dog in the home for maximum attention!

🐈Cats: She's never met any!

👶Kids: While she does adore humans of any size, her energy could be too much for kids under 6.

Mira will receive the rest of her medical treatment on January 10th. Applications can be found on our website, wchumane.org/adoptionprocess and submitted to the email listed with the application. Holds can be placed after submitting an adoption application and scheduling a pick-up appointment.

She's baaaccckkk

The sweet, snow-loving Miss Echo is back with us at WCHS and better than ever. After her brief stint at home life she's still thrilled to see us again and more than ready for another shot at forever!

If you're looking for a running buddy look no further. Not only can she keep pace with even the fastest runners, Echo loves unconditionally and you will never find a dog more delighted to see you when you walk in the door. Be prepared to give lots of belly rubs because this girl rolls right over when she sees you whether you like it or not!

With lots of energy for play time and walks (preferably runs if she has anything to say about it), Echo is not for the faint of heart (couch potatoes beware) and while she adores humans of any shape or size, she will likely be too much for kids under 8.

Echo is one year old, microchipped, all up to date on her vaccines, and drop dead gorgeous💅

We're looking for fosters once more for at least 5 of Miss Violet's beautiful puppies. They will need to remain in foster until late January so they can grow just as big and strong as their mama!

Get to know staff, watch our valiant volunteers be recognized for their excellent work at our Award Ceremony, and learn more about our organization! Not to mention the chance to meet our Board of Directors and get to know more about the ins and outs of Board Member duties and maybe even join the board yourself!

Meet us at the Way Public Library in the Mercy Health Activity Center Room! If you can't find it just ask the wonderful librarians who will happily provide directions!

Congratulations Gothmog The Banshee on his adoption!

This little guy has been a ward of WCHS since he was a week old and fostered by our very own Volunteer Coordinator.

In honor of his long journey to grow into the big strong kitten he is today, we wanted to showcase his incredible growth!

Congratulations to his wonderful adopter, we hope you have just as much fun with the little guy as we did!

Welcome to a very brief segment we will be calling: Friday Night Staff Favorites! We'll be featuring each staff member along with their favorite canine and favorite feline until we run out of employees! (it won't take very long)

To start us off we have Braden!

He is apart of our incredible Animal Care Team and provides excellent care to our furry friends! Braden is a returning employee who worked for WCHS for many years before relocating for a short period. Upon his return to Ohio he knew he wanted to come back to work with animals again.

"She's one of the first cats that I met when I begun working at WCHS again and I love how sweet she is and how she likes playing with the other cats."

Dog🐕: Violet
"She has a great energy and is super fun to play with! She started off a little nervous but I love to help dogs socialize to adjust better to shelter and we've become great friends since then.

Thank you, Braden for your fantastic attitude, killer work ethic, and love for our guests.

Now, while we may not be resuming Naughty & Nicest until the New Year, we wanted to include some Honorable Mentions for our Naughty & Nice Shelter Guests!

First we have Avril Lavigne. This year old, snow white beauty scared the absolute pants off me when I went in to feed them and saw her acrobatic feat. Cool trick but ultimately not a fan :(

Next we have Mozer. This handsome Alumni had a taste for construction materials and ate a strip of siding from his dog house before we had discovered his crimes.

Finally for our Honorable Naughty Mentions is Brandon Brandon III. Particularly for the face he made in this picture specifically. Not naughty per say, just pretty weird.

Three Dog Bakery Perrysburg is a lot more than a nice shop that makes the cutest dog treats🐶. They provide fantastic, homemade treats with natural, quality ingredients designed to be healthier than regular treats and are a lot more gentle on furry tummies.

We love their gentle ingredients for our dogs who are already having a tumultuous time adjusting to shelter life and could use some treats that won't upset their already anxious stomachs.

Through the generosity of Three Dog Bakery for hosting a Giving Tree in their store for us, and the kindness of their patrons for filling our pups' wishes, we will be set for months with treats even our new guests can enjoy without an upset stomach! From rawhide-free bones to freeze dried goodies, our furry guests don't care as much about dinner time as they do their new treats!

Spending the Holidays with our families has made us all feel a little bit more childish. Paticularly the sweetest baby, Zena who is back to nursing once again!

Nursing or suckling is a behavior done by some cats to soothe anxiety or just relax in general!
