We are NOT DONE, but merely selling out of everything aside from 2 lines of cichlids and our guppies (not listed) 😲😲😲

NOTE - check out the saturation of color in these fish on dark substrate VS. the exact same fish, same setup and on light substrate in our last video just 2-3 days ago. Some bright colored fish can rock white, most will saturate better on dark/black! πŸ‘

⏭️ Time Flys, directions change... We are ready to find our boy "Kong" a loving NEW HOME! πŸ€—

A little about "Kong"
🐠- This guy is a PROVEN fertile male, he's had many broods though I've only been able to rear one. They're gorgeous, check out " ByEricBarnes" on YouTube to see his son in all his glory πŸ’₯
🐠 - Kong is considered a "Golden Based Fader", this means that his "peach" or orange coloration is at all times becoming brighter/more dense and the black coloration fades away as they age. You can see an example of this in the "before" photo I posted below! is a particularly rare coloration in these already rare fish πŸ”₯
🐠 - Ole big head is going on about 2.5-3yrs old from my knowledge

🐠🐟 There is WAY more to these guys than just their looks though! Flowerhorns are also known for their unique and quirky personalities, often exhibiting dog-like behaviors such as following their owners around the tank and begging for attention. They are highly intelligent and can even be trained to perform tricks overtime too! Flowerhorn are definitely not your average aquarium fish and make for a fascinating addition to any space. So if you're looking for a fish that's every bit as fun and unique as it is beautiful, the flowerhorn cichlid might just be the perfect fit for you!

Did you know that Geophagus cichlids are known for their unique feeding behavior?? 😁🐠
These fish sift through the sand or substrate at the bottom of their aquarium, searching for food particles and small organisms to feed on. Once again, this is ONE of only TWO fish of this type and strain and by far the BEST looking... Don't miss out‼️
Specific Information for nerds like me πŸ€“πŸ‘‡:

The Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid, or Aulonocara "Dragon Blood" as it's scientifically known, is a fish that is a true work of art. It is no wonder that fish enthusiasts around the world are fascinated by this vibrant and unique fish species, but why is this fish so special and what makes it different from the traditional Dragon Blood Cichlid?

Origin and Establishment:
- The Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid was first established in the mid-1990s in Germany. The cichlid was created by breeding the traditional Dragon Blood Cichlid, which originates from Lake Malawi in East Africa, with another species of Aulonocara cichlid. Through careful selective breeding, the Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid was created, with its distinct blue coloration.

Distinct Appearance:
- The Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is a medium-sized fish, with males growing up to 6 inches and females growing up to 4-5 inches in length. They have a deep blue coloration on their bodies and fins, which is caused by a combination of structural and pigmentary colors. Their scales have a metallic sheen that reflects light in a way that makes them shimmer and shine. This gives the fish an almost ethereal quality, making them stand out from other cichlids.

Diet and Habitat:
- In the wild, the Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is found in the rocky waters of Lake Malawi. They are omnivores, feeding on a variety of foods including insects, crustaceans, and small fish. In captivity, they can be fed a varied diet of pellets, flakes, and live foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms. They require a pH of 7.8-8.6 and a water temperature of 75-81Β°F.

Social Behavior:
- The Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is a peaceful fish, but like all cichlids, they can be territorial. They are best kept in a species-only aquarium or with other peaceful cichlid species. Males are often more colorful and dominant than females, and they will display their fins and colors to attract a mate.

And finally, 'Breeding':
- The Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is a mouthbrooder, meaning that females will carry the fertilized eggs in their mouths until they hatch. Females will lay anywhere from 50-80 eggs at a time, and the eggs will hatch in around 21 days. The fry can be fed on crushed flakes or baby brine shrimp.

In conclusion, the Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is a stunning fish that is sure to make a great addition to any aquarium. Their unique blue coloration is what sets them apart from other cichlids, making them a must-have for any fish enthusiast. They are easy to care for and breed, and their peaceful nature makes them a joy to watch. If you are looking for a unique and stunning fish to add to your collection, the Blue Dragon Blood Peacock Cichlid is definitely worth considering. 🐟

Wuddy strain ruby red peacock cichlid! 😍

We are backing away from keeping and breeding exotic Alunocara strains for the most part here at TUFF, aside from a select few. That being said, this line might just be one of those few we just have to hold onto for a short while, what do you think? πŸ‘ΆπŸ πŸ€”

Have you ever owned a ruby red cichlid before? If so, what was your experience like? Let us know in the comments below!

🦐 Amano shrimp project update! 🦐
We are (im)patiently waiting for the next set of eggs so we can try again, but it is all on mama's ⌚ now! 😁

02/17/2023

You know were always getting into something! 😁🐟

Big stripes added and fingers crossed!
We are hoping for a successful spawn in the near future with this beautiful breeding group of Frontosa "Mpimbwe" 🀞

The frontosa cichlid, also known as Cyphotilapia frontosa, is a species of freshwater fish native to the rocky shores and depths of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. This species is highly sought after by aquarium hobbyists for its striking appearance and unique behavior. Frontosa cichlids are known for their distinctive nuchal hump, which develops as they mature, and their blue-black striped pattern. In addition to this, "Mpimbwe" is a location in Tanzania where this variant of the frontosa cichlid is found. These Mpimbwe frontosas are highly prized by collectors for their vibrant blue coloration and unique pattern.
What makes this cichlid even more special is its unique ability to inhabit the deep waters of Lake Tanganyika. Frontosa cichlids can be found at depths of up to 150 meters, making them one of the few species of freshwater fish that can thrive in such extreme conditions. And if that's not impressive enough, did you know that some scientists have even discovered deep water frontosa cichlids that are over 30 years old? How cool!!

Be sure to keep an eye out for updates on our many projects! πŸ‘οΈ
AMANO SHRIMP update coming SOON 🦐 😁

Keep an eye out for updates and get ready to bring some extra color and joy to your aquarium with these amazing fish! 🐠🌈

⚠️ Amono Project Update ⚠️

WE HAVE HATCHED LARVAE‼️

🦐🦐 Have you ever wondered how baby Amano shrimp grow into full-fledged shrimp? Here's an amazing fact: they go through 9 zoea stages before they reach the juvenile stage!

Here's a breakdown of their journey:

β€’ Stage 1: (current stage in video) The first stage begins with the hatching of the egg. The larvae have a large yolk sac that provides nutrition until they are able to find food.

β€’ Stage 2-5: During the next few stages, the larvae will molt and grow larger. They will also develop their legs, antennae, and other shrimp-like features.

β€’ Stage 6: At this stage, the larvae will start to look more like a miniature version of adult shrimp and will begin to feed on algae, small plankton, and other microscopic food.

β€’ Stage 7-8: In these stages, the larvae will continue to grow and molt until they reach the juvenile stage.

β€’ Stage 9: This is the final stage before reaching the juvenile stage. The larvae will have fully developed into a shrimp and will start to resemble a miniature version of an adult Amano shrimp.

🀯 Isn't it amazing how much these tiny creatures go through before they reach maturity? Keep an eye out for more updates to come soon!! πŸ‘€

02/07/2023

There have been developments on the Amano project! πŸ¦€πŸŒπŸ

I have pulled a short snippet from an article from [theshrimpfarm[.] com] to help further show why this project is so exciting!
"Amano Shrimp Breeding. Amano shrimp are one of the hardest shrimp species to breed in the aquarium hobby. It was actually thought impossible for a good while, but through lots of experimenting, there are aquarists who have managed to pull it off."

This is because these shrimp will not live out their entire life cycle in freshwater!
The Amano shrimp will readily spawn in freshwater and even in the average home aquarium, but, the "babies" will need to survive through the lengthy process of being a larvae (9 zoea stages 🀯) and the switching from fresh to saltwater TWICE!

We will keep everyone updated and plan to film most of the upcoming process, as this species is not often documented successfully breeding in a home aquarium. Stay tuned! πŸ™ŒπŸ‘€
