From giving happy endings to pets like Clifford who had a tough start in life to finding homes for 25-year-old cats like Buddy, some days at the shelter can be hard and beautiful at the same time. Cassie talks about a day last year that was incredibly tough for our staff, but the team did what they needed to do to serve and honor beloved pets and the people who cared for them.
Not all days are easy, but as Cassie said “we have lives to save…gotta go back and we gotta do it again the next day” for the animals.

Jake the German Shepherd
Meet Jake, a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix who has floppy ears, a playful spirit, and a penchant for cuddles, plushies, and treats! This handsome boy came to the shelter through no fault of his own and is now on a quest to find his perfect family. Jake is housebroken, crate-trained, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Palmer Update: This guy is doing so much better! Thank you to everyone who donated to help Palmer get the help he needed to treat his puppy strangles. He’s still undergoing treatment, but his face is so much less swollen and he’s playing his way to a healthy and happy life! 🐾

Palmer is Ready to go Home! 🐾
We have great news! Palmer has started his treatment and just visited a full-service vet. His bloodwork came back looking good, but it also showed that he’s anemic. With this positive update, Palmer is now officially available for adoption to a local home that can follow up with treatment here at the shelter, has preexisting pet experience, a history of spaying and neutering their pets, and a recommendation from their vet.
