One of our special pups, Chewy, just got the red-carpet treatment in NYC! After joining our transport to Muddy Paws Rescue NYC, Chewy found his forever home with none other than S*x and the City’s own Kristin Davis! 🌟 It’s not every day one of our pups gets adopted by a celebrity, and we couldn’t be happier for Chewy and his new family. ❤️

A huge thank you to Muddy Paws for helping Chewy find an amazing home, and of course, to all our supporters for making these success stories possible! Here’s to Chewy living his best big apple life! 🗽🐶

We’ve got a purrfect rescue story for Caturday! 🐱 A little orange kitten named Patriot came to us with a broken leg that, unfortunately, had to be amputated. But don’t worry—this resilient feline went on the road (literally) to a happy new life!

Thanks to our rescue transport program, Patriot hit the road and found an amazing family up north that has a cat named Bucky, who's a tripod just like him.

This is what Patriot and Bucky's mom had to say: "It's really cute because they both keep sliding out and slipping as they run and get zoomies without their back legs. Bucky doesn't have to feel embarrassed about it because he has someone just like him now!" ❤️

🚨CODE RED: $25 emergency adoptions for all BGWCHS cats and dogs - today Friday, November 1 through Sunday, November 3!

We are once again overflowing with pets. There were so many cat intakes this week that we have zero kennels left open. Here’s the breakdown:

• 77 cat intakes since 10/28 alone!!!

• 390 animals currently in our care

• ZERO kennel space available

We can’t believe the shelter is still in this state. We need adoptions now, and we need everyone in our community to spay and neuter!

We’re so grateful to our friends at Petco Love for the lifesaving grant that allows us to offer these emergency adoption fees when we get into tough situations like these! If you've been thinking about adopting, now's the time! You’ll be saving your new pet's life and the life of another animal we wouldn’t have room for if you hadn’t adopted.

The absolute best way to see who’s available is to visit us! We’ll be open today from 10 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from noon to 4 pm.

Happy Halloween from BGWCHS! 🎃🐾 This spooky season, let’s shine a light on our beautiful black cats and dogs! Often these loving companions face tougher challenges in finding their forever homes. On average, black pets can take up to 3 times longer to get adopted than those of other colors. 😢

Many potential adopters hold onto outdated superstitions that associate black cats with bad luck, while black dogs may just be perceived as less desirable.

This Halloween, let’s break the stigma and embrace the magic of black pets! 🖤

Frankie is a little guy who's been through a lot, but he's still as sweet and loving as ever. He came to us as a stray with a large wound on his back, and while we don’t know how it happened, we do know he’s lucky to be alive. ❤️

Frankie’s wound is pretty severe (photos are blurred here, but if you’re squeamish, maybe avoid the later photos). It was left untreated for too long and it led to a serious infection. He’s already been sedated for deep cleaning, but due to the lack of skin to close and suture the wound, it had to be left open to heal. It’ll be a long road to recovery for Frankie and his wound will need daily care, but we know it's all worth it. From that first photo, it's easy to see that Frankie’s got a happy-go-lucky spirit and is just thrilled to be getting the care and love he deserves!
