Yes, it's true! If you are in the horse/farm world it seems like you are always looking for great help and it can be hard.

Well, something you may not know about us, we are a great farm/family. We over the years have had many who have never left until they had to move, had a child or advanced in their career to new heights, but have always remained family and many have come back for part time work just to be part of the team again... Maybe that is something you are looking to be a part of/for.

We are currently looking for stable help around some amazing horses, ponies and 2 mini horses. We are open for student options as well.

The hour options are M-F, 7-12 and S-S, 7-1. If this could be for you and you may not have the experience that is ok, we are there for you to show you the ropes!

Please DM us and we reply asap!

As many of you know we have a “contest” as to who gets their yearly fall over with first in 2024.

Everyone is going to fall off now and then and the law of averages works out to a few times a year. This so far is this year’s top 5! Congratulations to the top 5!!

Also everyone knows no falling off on purpose!

Some sad new to report but our beloved Fluffy has jumped over the rainbow bridge.

Here is Fluffy with Maya who loved her like we did. Fluffy unfortunately had Cushings pretty bad and just stood or laid down to relive the pain along with an infection she had been suffering from that could not be beat and we tried…

Many thanks to Sarah Graboys from Backstretch Vet, Heather and Maya Fischl and Steph Brightman for all of their help.

We are sure that Fluffy was met by her friends who showed her the way into the great green fields over the bridge… Fluff you and all your fur will be missed and I hope you get all the scratches and treats you can find…

It is going to be cold this weekend!! We won’t be having lessons but we will be hoping on most of the ponies, minis and horses in the indoor ba****ck but with their blankets on to get them some exercise!

We could give them all some treats and make sure buckets are clean etc.

If you haven’t spoken to Kathy and might want to help, please reach out to her!

Ok so we have these Bella + Canvas sweatshirts and hoodies and oh my they are soft! I am wearing the hoodie as we speak so no photo… I think we have a large of each at the barn, so please ask Kathy if you want one asap.

If you want to get one, we have the form and number at the barn! If you can’t get to the barn DM me and I’ll get you our printers number. We don’t get any extra for these they are just cost direct from our local printer.

Hello Horse World!

We had an amazing IEA show this past weekend run by who did an amazing job coaching and basically running the entire show!

Brianna also came and helped a lot, and we are so thankful. We had amazing parents who attended and made wonderful food for all in attendance. They were also so supportive for every kid and helped make everything seamless.

Some candid shots where many of the horse holders are from STF as well as young ladies who came with the horses that Debbie Wesoja so nicely brought to be ridden and loved.

Thank you to Helen Varker our show secretary, Laurie Fairhurst our judge, Debbie Wesoja and her daughter Kristen, our steward and Ken Mahoney our EMT.

Thank you to all it was a great day!

My Grammie and mom’s mom Joyce Kathryn Mello passed this past Thursday night. She went peacefully in her sleep with mom by her side and days shy her 97th.

She was vibrant, out spoken, had no filter, tough as nails, super organized, smart, a business woman and cared deeply about her family, all the while being very pragmatic about life. She cared for my Grampa after a stroke in his 40s but he was even stronger and he rallied and led an amazing caring life for his family and others.

They both were extremely proud of my mom in how she pursued a career that wasn’t one that you planned on making a lot of money or was prestigious, but it was a passionate and you loved it and every horse, barn animal and people you taught. Grammie would have done it all different and told mom that probably once a week and that was her no filter. She did it out of love and caring but her flat way of telling it would make you want to climb the walls. (I get that from her), but she would spend her last penny if mom needed it and would have mucked stalls and did the books if asked.

She had dementia in last years of life and it was tough, but she kept in her mind 2 things all the way to the end, her grandson was handsome (I felt silly her always telling me, but it was what she remember to say) and the other she would say “this is my lovely daughter” which mom would smile about as you may not have heard it as she was private with thoughts. We both cherished that with the lost memory she kept those somewhere deep down she would never let go of…

Grammie I miss you and will miss our banter, but glad you are with Grampa as you loved him so. I know mom misses you more, but you were proud you raised her to be an amazing person and mom to me. You told me once “Dan, I saw your mom at 14 galloping top speed down the side of the road and knew then she was never going to do anything different” and she would have liked to have changed her, but she was happy as a mom could be… xoxo

We have a bunch of IEA photos to share but first, Ebba and took Kathy on a beach ride for Thanksgiving! She is on Ebba/Brynja’ Icelandic Amor!

Let me tell you mom said she had never ridden an Icelandic in over 65+ years of riding and now she wishes she did more. He was fun, great ride and feels like in tough spot she would pick one to ride to safety.

She also said the saddle and the leather on it was so nice she may just need one to have.

Thank you Ebba, Brynja and .valley.icelandics for a great day!

Frankie is no new rider, let me tell you… He also is not a fan of giant hats that his mom keeps putting on his head and snowsuits are altogether another issue.

After this photo he pulled his mom aside and said “Mom, listen. I need dad to go home, get my chaps and hat, not the new one, but the one that’s dirty and shows I know my stuff. Then when dad gets back let’s get another photo as people know me and I got a style to keep… oh and make sure dad gets my 2pm bottle…”

It’s Monday at the farm so in the horse world we are all relaxing…. (Ha! It never stops) But a shout out today to for doing her thing to the sign out front for our upcoming Dec 2nd IEA show!

Maya has a clean streak like me. She sees something, knows she can spruce it up and just puts her head down and does it no questions asked!

Thanks Maya!!

When you are at the barn chatting after your lesson. “How was your ride today? Well all was going well and then of course she spooked at a tree branch we rode by 100x and tried to buck me off… So typical. I know right, mini horses are no different we just have a shorter fall to the ground…”

So who knew we had this many extra helmets, I won’t even mention how many extra stirrups or saddle racks, and how long did it take me to clean the tack room… It was cleaned, swept, vacuumed, de-cobwebbed, slightly rearranged and doors tightened and more.

The first and closest guess to the 1/4 hr gets a STF t-shirt, lic plate sign and a sticker and yes the last 2 you can always have 🙂

Sometimes you look around and smile and then also realize you have a business that is hard but enjoyed, long days but successful, stretching to make ends meet at times but worth every penny and never mind the great people, the animals who love the scratches behind the ear or the smile on that riders face over that jump or falling in the dirt, getting back on and completing the course you set up for them…

It’s all in a day and it’s also a tad of pride knowing you have little things like shirts and stickers and hats that say “that’s us…”

Oh and the shirts are sooooo comfy 🙂

Someone went into the swamp yesterday so Maddie got a full bath, curry glove scrub, collar wash, and between the toes scrub. The best part for Maddie is she LOVES to be toweled off and she stands still but wags her butt like a crazy person…

So if you see her today, tell her she looks pretty!
