A Cat Clinic

A Cat Clinic A Cat Clinic was established in 1986, the first feline-only veterinary hospital in Montgomery County. Cats do not deal well with change.

Even the most subtle change in a cat’s environment can cause stress and anxiety. At A Cat Clinic we understand these sensitivities and make it our mission to provide a low-stress, cat-friendly environment. From calming voices and delicate handling techniques, to a relaxed “home away from home” environment, we work to minimize your cat’s stress and anxiety, creating a therapeutic environment and re

warding experience for you and your cat. We put your cat’s comfort first in all we do, and from the moment you walk in, you’ll see why. A Cat Clinic…for the love of cats.

Wrapping up veterinary technician/staff week with some candids! It is hard to catch them all so sadly not all staff pictured, but comment if you like this and we will do it more regularly!

1. Receptionist Chole giving dayboarder Manole some extra love. Not pictured from team reception: Christina, Sarah, and Ava - they are all the first faces you see when you walk in the door and the reassuring voices you hear on the phone.

2. Assistant Dinuri providing boarding cat Biscuit's breakfast for inspection. Not pictured from team assistants: Sid, Isabelle, and Shoshana - not only do they take care of all the cats, but also the vital details around the clinic that keep us running.

3-6. Registered veterinary technician Vicki participating in an endoscopy (one of the advanced specialty feline services we offer!), non-registered technician Abby doing a complete oral health assessment and treatment (commonly known as a "dental"), non-registered technician Sam cuddling former (now in his forever home!) rescued clinic cat Draco, and non-registered technician Maria writing Duncan's visit notes with his help. Not pictured from team technicians: Ian - our technicians are the nurses who are the backbone of providing the compassionate cat care that we champion.

It's National Veterinary Technician week! We like to celebrate our staff every day, but this is a nice week to highlight their excellence to everyone, and we expand it to include our receptionists and assistants who are all equally vital members of our team. This is a timely week as our clients recently received an email detailing our plan to address industry wide staffing shortages. This past year, every member of our staff took a certificate program to become a certified cat friendly professional. This is just a small example of how our wonderful staff pour their heart and souls into the clinic and taking care of your cats and we are so grateful. Please give them an extra thanks when you see them 🤗

**Power alert** We do not have power at the clinic this morning. PEPCO is estimating a 1pm restoral time. We have limited access to facebook and emails. Please bear with us as we wait to get things up and running.

Here is Willow curious about why all her humans are having an extra dramatic case of the Mondays.

Hello Cat Clinic family,
This never gets easier to post. We open our hearts to every cat who comes through our doors, especially to those who decide to stay for good.

Orson came to us about a year ago as a nervous boy in need of a retirement home. Shortly after he moved in, he was diagnosed with a nasal tumor and given a poor prognosis and a short timeline; we wanted to give him the best life he could ask for for however long he wanted to give us. As we all know, cats have their own agenda and march to the beat of their own drum!

Over the last 10 months we have watched this sweet boy go from timid and introverted to a complete social butterfly. He often spent his days checking in on all the staff before settling up front to greet you all from behind the reception desk. Our hearts are broken with the loss of our Orson, we loved him very much and will miss him tremendously.

We are sharing this post for one of our community members!
Stevie and Jake are two special needs kitties in search of their forever home. They are about 9 weeks old, and unfortunately are positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). Cats with FeLV can live normal lives, but will require more frequent veterinary care, as their immune system leaves them more susceptible to illness. They also will need to be the only cats in the household, or in one with another FeLV positive cat.

They are being fostered through and more information about them can be found through their organization or Pet Finder (link below)😸 Good luck little ones, your perfect home is waiting!

We have an exciting announcement! To further our commitment to cat safety and wellness, every single member of our team has gone through the Cat Friendly certificate program. We have been a Cat Friendly Gold practice since 2012 which means that our practice holds the highest standards for cat comfort, welfare, and reducing anxiety, and from here on out every team member will also commit to this individual certification as well.

Did you know that February is Pet Dental Health Awareness Month? Oral care and health is a vital part of a cat’s wellbeing, and here to demonstrate some of what that entails is miss Juno!

Juno is a 14 year old spayed domestic shorthair who presented for her COHAT (which means Complete Oral Health Assessment and Treatment)recently. In order to plan for her dental procedure, we sent out a comprehensive blood panel a few weeks ago to give us vital information on her systemic health. This also helped us tailor her anesthesia plan, as we do with all our patients!

We perform dental radiographs with every COHAT to give us the full picture (no pun intended😹) of your kitty’s oral health. Many cats will develop issues underneath the gum line or even behind their teeth, that we cannot visualize on a normal exam. Juno’s radiographs looked great, and no extractions were needed during her procedure!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your cat’s health, as always, feel free to give us a call, shoot us a text or send an email!
