A Cat Clinic

A Cat Clinic A Cat Clinic was established in 1986, the first feline-only veterinary hospital in Montgomery County. Cats do not deal well with change.

Even the most subtle change in a cat’s environment can cause stress and anxiety. At A Cat Clinic we understand these sensitivities and make it our mission to provide a low-stress, cat-friendly environment. From calming voices and delicate handling techniques, to a relaxed “home away from home” environment, we work to minimize your cat’s stress and anxiety, creating a therapeutic environment and re

warding experience for you and your cat. We put your cat’s comfort first in all we do, and from the moment you walk in, you’ll see why. A Cat Clinic…for the love of cats.

Medication time can sometimes be challenging, but we’re here to show you one of our favorite tricks! We call them push-pops! (Yes, kind of like the nostalgic ice cream treat 😹). A 3cc syringe (with the tip cut off) is partially filled with a squeeze up treat, a pill is placed inside, and then topped off with more treat to hide the taste 🙀!

Catalano, Chairman Meow and Loch here all are eagerly demonstrating how this works!

We often recommend this method, pill pocket “sandwiches” and a multitude of other tips and tricks to make medicating less stressful and more enjoyable for kitties and their caregivers. 😸🍭

Let’s do a count!
Vicki started here over 10 years ago with one cat (a now 15 year old kitty named Juno🐈‍⬛). She adopted 3 more over the next few years, has raised kittens and fostered at least 4 others, and is the designated Auntie to many of the staff’s cats 😹😻 (let’s be real here, cat math = one is never enough!)

Spring time bouquets may be beautiful but not all are safe to keep around cats! Ingestion or exposure to even just the pollen of most of the toxic flowers can lead to severe illness such as acute kidney injury for our feline friends. Make sure you are not bringing these inside or anywhere your cats can access them💐🙀

Spring is finally here! The birds are singing, the cherry blossoms are blooming, and guess what else is emerging? Parasites!!!

Pictured above is a tapeworm segment with eggs that was a surprise find on one of our patients today!🙀

We strongly recommend keeping cats up to date on parasite prevention at least during the warmer months (March-November). Pesky critters can infect both indoor and outdoor cats as they like to hitchhike through clothing/shoes, other pets and even mosquitoes 🦟!! We also recommend checking a f***l sample annually to look for intestinal parasites🪱. We are always happy to answer any questions if you would like more information on flea, tick, heartworm prevention and deworming!

Friday! Do you ever wish you could enjoy snacks and be cozy during your lab testing? Squeaky here is having her blood pressure measured in the comfort of her carrier and under a pheromone-scented towel while savoring her favorite treat!

We routinely monitor blood pressure in our elderly patients (using a Doppler machine and pediatric cuffs) as part of their Senior Wellness Exams. Blood pressure readings are commonly taken underneath the tail or under a paw — we let the cats choose what they prefer! By using headphones to reduce noise from the Doppler, warm gel, and a gentle touch, this non-invasive test is completed as quickly as any you would expect at your own appointments!

Manole comes to hang out with us every month for his Solensia injection, and always commands attention from his fan club 😻

Solensia is a monthly injection that has revolutionized how we treat arthritis in cats. Manole is a senior cat who can move like a young man again!

Some of you have been wondering where Willow has been lately. Don’t worry, we have some good news to share!

During her snowstorm sleepover with one of our team members, Abby, Willow decided to give this “work from home” thing a try! We are happy to report that Abby and Willow were a perfect match and it was decided that Willow needed a career switch to Full Time House Cat!

These days Willow is managing her own home office, with the help of her coworkers, Simon and Mr. Whiskers. We miss our sweet girl around the hospital but are so excited for her and this new chapter!

Ahsaka is making the rounds today!

Did you know we offer individualized play times for our boarding occupants? When it comes to cats, not all play is created equal!

Take Ahsaka here for example, she brings 20 years of cat experience to the table 🙀 so she’s not a rough and tumble kind of kitty! Instead, she likes to take daily (supervised) strolls around the clinic when it’s quiet, so she’s can visit with our team members and stretch her legs in between naps!

Adjusting to a new environment can be stressful for most cats, and although we offer play times, brushing and other services for our guests, we understand when they prefer privacy and low interactions instead while they settle in.
If you have any questions about our boarding services, feel free to reach out to us any time!
