As I sat and watched horses work in exhibitions, I see so many that would benefit from lessons, a good vet, epm meds, lasix, ulcer meds, and much more.
As a trainer, itโs not that I think my program is โthe bestโ even though I am proud of what we are accomplishing, but without a doubt I can say that Iโm not afraid to ask for help, I talk to other trainers and professionals regularly. They are honestly probably tired of my questions and collaborations to bring information to our industry. ๐
As I sharpen my axe, I remember iron sharpens iron. Iโm not afraid to learn something new, my mentality has always been, โwell, even if all I learned was Iโm never going to do that, I still learned something.โ
I wish this industry was more open about what is helping, because itโs supposed to be whatโs best for the horses.
As a rider, donโt be afraid to ask some questions, so many people you may find intimidating, are more than happy to share their wealth of knowledge. Donโt be afraid to go take a lesson, step outside your comfort zone, understand that none of us even know, what we donโt know. Go watch the warm up pens at night, go watch how people tune their horses, you might be surprisedโฆ some of your idols will disappoint you and some people coming up through the ranks will impress you. Watch what the winners do, and never stop learning.
