A goal without a plan is just a wish.

The plan doesn’t have to be complex.
The plan doesn’t have to be life altering.
In fact, the simpler your plan is, the better.

Simple plans get executed consistently.
And, consistent action creates results.

Start simple. Stay consistent. Stick to the plan.

We are pleased to announce our annual summer youth riding horsemanship series is available for registration!!

Cedar Ridge Equine offers several dates for horsemanship lesson series for youth of all ages available for beginner to advanced riders. In all of our Horsemanship Lesson Series, we believe it is important to teach life skill development and personal growth as an intricate component of our horsemanship program. After conducting several educational studies on life skill development through the use of horses, we found it most effective to teach about responsibility, relationships, communication, leadership, and team work through horse safety and care; haltering, tying and leading a horse; horse behavior observation and horse anatomy; and on-the-ground horsemanship. Participants will spend time in the saddle, working on the ground with the horses and will participate in daily take home equine crafts and journaling activities. We strive to provide a safe, fun and educational environment for all riders and horses. If you do not own a horse, not a problem, we provide safe, sane, reliable lesson horses.

We are so excited to introduce and share our January dedicated rider of the month!

“Hi there!

I’m Micah, I’ve been in Montana since 2014 and split my time between my home here and in South Africa. I started riding with CRE spring of 23 and in the fall we moved our horses Smarty and Katy to CRE to board. I know some of you have been lucky enough to ride Katy, she’s a 27 y/o push button horse and still has a lot of go. Smarty is the sweetest boy who doesn’t always know the right thing to do but he sure does try his best.

Over the summer I was signed up for a few clinics and needed a horse that wasn’t so mothered up so I leased Squintz. We had the best summer of 2024 running barrels, roping and moving cattle and exploring new trails. I spent a lot of time in the arena working on softening my cues, balancing on the bridge, and a responsive stop and back up. I think Squintz loves the barrel pattern, he surprised me during our last run with a flying lead change and when I put down the reins and let him go where he wants he’ll walk the patten, even when there aren’t barrels set up!

He has the best little personality, he’s a do-it-all kind of horse, so sweet and gentle. I’ve grown very attached to him. I hope that when I’m back from South Africa in the spring I can spend more time with him and my goal is to enter the weekly barrel race at the fair grounds in Bozeman, Squintz isn’t the fastest lil guy but what he lacks in speed he makes up for in s***k and I know we’d have a lot of fun together.”

About Us...

Edward and Beverly Prechter created Cedar Ridge Morgans with the belief that dreams really can come true. Together they fulfilled a lifelong dream of enhancing and promoting the heritage of the first American bred horse, and the dreams of a man called Justin Morgan. Through the years and until Beverly's passing in 2002, Edward, alongside his youngest daughter Amy helped to make a good name for Cedar Ridge Morgans. In 2002, Edward and Amy continued to follow Beverly's lifelong ambition of not only breeding, training and showing Morgan horses but also incorporating the sport of rodeo and Quarter horses into the ranch. Our facility is known as Cedar Ridge Equine and exhibits the perfect balance of Morgans and Quarter Horses in a western working environment. The home of two exceptional stallions, one can choose to breed to the most agile of Morgans or one of the most conformationally correct and athletic of Quarter Horses. Amy has spent the last 9 years developing our sister facility, Cedar Ridge Equine, LLC., in Bozeman, MT. Her hard work and dedication has paid off. Her summer horse camps are becoming increasingly popular in both Montana and California! Amy now offers weekly riding lessons and training in Bozeman and trainer Jose Mendosa offers the same at the Grass Valley, Ca. facility. Even though we have changed our name, our philosophy at Cedar Ridge Equine will forever remain the same: Always remember that it is okay to dream, that's what we did and look what happened. Come visit us and we'll show you all the things that dreams are made of and then we'll will help you make yours a reality.
