Balto was having gastrointestinal issues when he presented. After a full snoot to tail exam, Balto was administered an anti-nausea medication to help calm his belly and he will be getting a bland diet at home.

Duke jumped off a bunkbed. After radiographs were taken, our doctor determined that Duke had a fracture 🦴

After a splint was applied, Duke was scheduled with a surgeon to surgically fix the fracture. It was a pleasure to help you on your road to recover ❤️‍🩹

Tongues out Tuesday 😝

This is Lola, she stopped in to see us due to an ocular issues. After performing an eye stain and a tonometry test (which checks the pressure in her eyes). It was determined that Lola had increased ocular pressure, potentially Glaucoma. With medications and regular check up with her regular vet this can be managed.

Oh we could. Even though this baby seems like she’s looking into your soul, she was the sweetest baby we have met!

Shayla came in to to see us due to inappetence and vomiting. After an exam, Shayla decided next steps would be an anti-nausea injection and being monitored at home. Shayla knows that if she vomits through the medication or does not eat to come back in to see us. It was a pleasure meeting you Shayla

Remi stopped in to see us due to a lump her family found. After performing a full snoot to tail exam, it was determined that shaving and cleaning the area were the next steps. After a clip and clean the team discovered an open mass.

Remi was prescribed medication to help her body heal and she will be visiting her regular vet for a mass removal.

These sweet babies stopped in due to 1 having an ear infection and the other having my an allergic reaction. After a full exam and a few shots to help the allergies, both of these sweet babies headed home with medications to help their symptoms!

Grizzly stopped in to see us due to Gastrointestinal issues. After performing diagnostic to ensure this sweet baby did not have parasites or parvo, this sweet baby was prescribed medication to treat his gastrointestinal issues. 🐾🩵

Candy stopped in to see us due to decreased appetite. After running bloodwork to ensure her liver and kidneys are functioning appropriately. We noticed minor elevation with some liver values. Candy was prescribed medication to help with this and the symptoms she presented with today. It was a pleasure meeting you and helping you on your road to recovery ❤️‍🩹

Did you know grapes can be toxic for dogs? Stella, a sweet Pomeranian, found this out the hard way. Thankfully, her pet parents acted fast and brought her to UrgentVet. We induced vomiting to safely get the grape out and kept her comfortable afterward. 💙

Baxter stopped in to see us due to ADR and vomiting. We performed full bloodwork checking Baxters liver, kidneys, hydration level, pancreas and many more. Luckily it all back NORMAL 🥳

Baxter was prescribed medication to clear up his symptoms. We also gave injectable medication in clinic to ensure Baxter would start feeling better as soon as possible.

Doodle stopped in to see us due to a nose bleed.

This nose bleed was caused by Doodle jumping and unfortunately not making it to his destination. Doodle actually landed on the floor hitting his face.

After monitoring Doodle and ensuring his bloodwork was not abnormal Doodle was able to head home! Doodle will no longer be climbing and jumping off Mount Everest.

Baker stopped in to see us after he ingested some of his family intimate clothing. Due to Bakers families quick action in bringing him into the clinic, we were able to induce vomiting and get the intimate clothing back with no surgery required 🎉

Blaze 🩵🐾

Blaze stopped in to see us due to limping. After we convinced Blaze to hold his tail wiggles long enough for radiographs. We discovered mild dysplasia and possible torn cruciate.

He came to us for a laceration on his paw pad toe. We sedated him and sutured his paw pad and we sent him home with pain meds, anti inflammatory, and antibiotics as well as an e collar!

He stopped in for urinating blood. We performed bloodwork which came back within normal limits. Sadly his bladder was too small to obtain a sample for testing.

This was Ozzie!

He came in with inappetence and lethargy, we performed diagnostics as well as an amazing head massage while waiting for our radiology consult to return. His radiology report confirmed sand impaction, we did SQ fluids and Cerenia.

He received care the next day from his GP and owners have said that the sand has moved to his colon and he has been having sandy poops 🥰

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

This is Champ stopped in to see us due to ain’t doing right. After a snoot to tail exam, we performed diagnostics. His diagnostics informed our team that Champ had parasites, a UTI, and anemia (possibly caused by the parasites). After injections and fluids to help his body combat everything going on internally, Champ headed home.

We hope you are doing so much better 🐾🩵

Let’s learn an ear cytology! 👂 Today we are performing an ear cytology. First and foremost we need to collect our sample, after that has been collected on our microscope slip we will roll our Left ear sample in an “L” shape (on the left side - closest to the frosted edge) and the Right ear sample in a box shape (on the right side - farthest form the frosted edge). After that has been done we fix it with our heat (we use a lighter, you can also use hair driers and etc). After the swabs have been heat fixed we are going to do our dye! When you have gone through your dyes (for our video dip dye time has been sped up), we will rinse off the excess dye and let it dry! When the slide has been dried we will get it set up on the microscope and put special oil on to be able to see everything going on in the sample. That is what you are seeing in the video! So fun looking right! What you are seeing in the Right side of the ear is a bunch of Yeast! This ear is trying to open up a bakery with all this yeast in there 😉. Don’t worry UrgentVet is able to help and get this all cleared up! UrgentVet Lakewood Ranch has in house bloodwork!? How does that work?? Don’t worry we are here to show you! Today you are learning our Catalyst Machine. Together we are performing a “Chem 17” and “T4”. The Chem 17 checks for Kidney Function and Liver Function are the main ones but it reads so much more. This is going to show us that your furbabies internals are functioning appropriately. This could tell us if your baby is not able to put on certain medications as well as if they are in any organ distress! The following test is your T4 (Thyroxine). UrgentVet Lakewood Ranch has the pleasure of introducing Miss Zoey! Zoey is a 6 month old Golden Retriever. She was brought to us for an ear infection, but what she really came for was the lovely treats she gets from our Fear Free clinic! She received an ear cleaning, with a side of snacks.
