Did you know ear infections are typically due to overgrowth of yeast and bacteria? Causing swelling, redness, itching, and discomfort, these two microscopic menaces can wreak havoc in our pets' ears. 🔬

Unfortunately, sweet Otis is not a stranger to ear infections. He visited UrgentVet after his family noticed swelling and redness in his ears. Our team determined that Otis had a bacterial ear infection and put together a treatment plan to suit his needs. We cleaned Otis's ears and prescribed medication to treat the ear infection and swelling. To ensure Otis's ears were improving, we made a plan for him follow up with his primary veterinarian for continued care.

Like most kittens his age, Harry was known for his endless energy and appetite. When his parents noticed he wasn't eating well and seemed much less active, they knew something was wrong. Sure enough, Harry was not feeling his best and running a fever when he arrived at UrgentVet. Our team performed diagnostics during his appointment and administered medication and fluids to reduce his fever. Snuggled in his blankies, Harry also received some much-appreciated chin scratches during his treatments. 💗🐈

After his treatments, Harry went home with medications to improve his appetite and to treat intestinal parasites we found during his visit. We hope handsome Harry is feeling better and back to his playful self!

Many wild mushrooms are toxic to dogs and cats, and it’s not always easy to tell which are dangerous. Ingestion can lead to serious symptoms like vomiting, seizures, or even organ failure.

Here’s how to keep your pet safe:
Remove mushrooms from your yard as soon as you see them
Keep pets leashed during walks or outdoor play in wooded areas

With saltwater and freshwater at every turn, Florida is a fisherman's paradise! 🎣🐠 But careless clean-up after a day of fishing can be a big problem for Florida pups.

During his afternoon walk, Jobo thought he found a delicious morsel left from someone's day of fishing. Unfortunately, his tasty snack was still attached to a large fishhook - one that became embedded in his cheek.

Jobo's concerned family reached out to UrgentVet for immediate help. We discussed a treatment plan that included medication to help Jobo snooze through the fishhook removal. With Jobo napping, our amazing doctor was able to further assess the injury and remove the large fishhook from his cheek.

Jobo was able to head home with his family that evening for some much needed rest. We hope this handsome boy is doing well! 💖

That face you make when you know you're in great hands and can just rest and relax before your procedure... 😸

After noticing a wound under Sophia's tail, her mom brough her to UrgentVet Lakewood Ranch for prompt, compassionate care. Once Sophia's exam was completed, we discussed a treatment plan made just for her that included wound repair, antibiotics, and medication to alleviate discomfort. 💊🐈🩹

Supervising from her blanket prior to her procedure, Sophia was the epitome of a cool cat! Our amazing team repaired her wound and Sophia headed home with medications to keep her comfy.
