DID YOU KNOW: It is estimated that anywhere from 1 in 500 to 1 in 100 dogs will develop diabetes in their life-time and that number is only rising with each year.

Most common signs of diabetes in dogs are:
◼️ Drinking excessively (much more than usual)
◼️ Urinating excessively (much more than usual)
◼️ Having a ravenous appetite
◼️ Losing weight rapidly or suddenly
◼️ Less obvious symptoms of diabetes include:
◼️ Recurrent infections
◼️ Weakness
◼️ Poor coat quality
◼️ Cataracts
◼️ Seizures

In the early stages of diabetes, symptoms may not be too severe, but once a patient is a full-blown diabetic, they aren’t very subtle. If you suspect your pet may begin to exhibit these signs, please contact your veterinarian ASAP!

Itchy, leaky eyes? It could be eye allergies.

In dogs, redness of the eyes is a vague symptom that can be caused by a wide variety of underlying diseases. For allergic conjunctivitis, redness is usually seen in both eyes. You may also notice symptoms like:

πŸ‘οΈ Squinting of the affected eye(s)
πŸ‘οΈ Pawing at the face
πŸ‘οΈ Discharge coming from one or both eyes

Although all dog breeds have the potential to develop allergic dermatitis, common breeds with a predisposition for this condition include:

Boxer
Cocker Spaniel
French Bulldog
German Shepherd
Golden Retriever
Labrador Retriever
Poodle
West Highland White Terrier

Consult your vet if you believe your pet may suffer from eye allergiesβ€”

Thanksgiving is almost here! πŸ¦ƒπŸ½οΈ

❌Chocolate: Contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs.
❌Onions and garlic: Can damage red blood cells.
