Since we are so close to water, see below:

Possibly on Tuesday, definitely on Wednesday, DeSoto Animal Clinic and Bradenton Veterinary Emergency will be closed during the hurricane. You can call us to check our operational status at 941-748-2637.

Depending on if there is damage or a power outage it will be unclear when we will re-open. If your pet is having an emergency, please call the following ER Hospitals to check if they are operational:

Anyone know this adorable meat-head?

You know “Juno?” He is a 4-year-old mixed breed who was found running across 6th Avenue, behind the courthouse, right before 7 a.m. on June 19. Manatee County Senior Probation Officer Janelle Kusmierz, who gave him his nickname, was able to catch up with him after he narrowly escaped the path of a driver. She grabbed hold of his leash and searched the area for his owner with no luck. So Kusmierz contacted Manatee County Animal Welfare and took him with her to work at the courthouse where he became an honorary member of the Probation team until they arrived. Juno is currently at Palmetto Animal Shelter, located at 305 25th Street West. Animal Welfare is dedicated to providing resources to help reunite pets with their owners—in May alone, 30 owners were reunited with pets temporarily housed by our shelters. Tonight is the Hernando DeSoto heritage parade! We will be open, but it will be very difficult to get to us between the hours of 6 PM and 10 PM. Please be aware and if possible plan ahead! We will be happy to help you find the nearest ER if you are unable to get to us. Manatee Avenue west (14th-44th) will be closed starting at 5 PM. Manatee Ave will reopen by 11pm.

All of us mourn our K-9 officers who protect us and their handlers. Rest in Peace sweet boy.

REST IN PEACE: The Marion County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of K-9 Leo. Leo was shot protecting his handler and other deputies on Saturday morning. Leo died Tuesday morning.
