Did you know? Plastic dog bowls are easily scratched, and these scratches trap bacteria and oil which may cause issues to your dog or cat’s lips and face. Try switching over to a stainless steel bowl instead. They are super easy to clean, dishwasher-safe, and non-porous.

Even better, opt for stainless steel bowl that is elevated on a stand- raised bowls can make eating and drinking more comfortable for your pet, reducing strain on their neck, back, and joints. This can be especially helpful for older dogs or those with mobility issues, arthritis, or orthopedic conditions.

Happy World Kindness Day!
World Kindness Day was first introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, whose mission is to create a kinder world. It's a day to promote kindness to yourself, others, and the world.

Here are some ways you can celebrate World Kindness Day with animals:
Visit an animal shelter: You can play with the animals, or even adopt one if you can properly care for it. You can also post about the shelter on social media to encourage others to adopt.
Be kind to animals: You can help curb animal overpopulation by having your pets spayed or neutered. You can also dispose of trash and recyclables properly, and leave wild animals alone so they can pursue their own needs.
Speak up against animal abuse: If you witness abuse or see an animal in distress, don't be silent.

Medicating a cat can be tricky. If you are having trouble getting your kitty to take a pill, try this trick from Dr. Michelle Danna-Christian & Dvm360:

“I use Easy Cheese (Kraft). I make a line of cheese, then a dot, then another line. The dot contains the pill. Cats eat the cheese quickly, and because there is a second line, they continue to eat very quickly and swallow the pill without noticing… It doesn’t work if the pill is just placed in a glob of cheese; the cat will spit the pill out.”

Reasons not to use retractable leashes:
• The length of the leash allows your dog to run into potentially dangerous situations (into the street, up to other possible aggressive dogs)
• The thin cord has a potential to snap or break
• Injuries have been caused by the sudden jerk on the dog’s neck when they hit the end of the leash
• Retractable leashes train dogs to pull constantly when walked
• The cord on a retractable leash is very narrow and can easily get wrapped around fingers or legs causing minor issues such as rope burn and skin lacerations. Major injuries such as amputation of a digit can also occur.
• Retractable leashes also provide a huge risk for tripping. When your pet is at the end of a fully extended retractable leash, they can quickly entangle people in the surrounding area and cause them to trip or fall and harm themselves.
