Sugar's Gift Inc. Sugar’s Gift™: Our mission is to provide hospice, euthanasia and end-of-life veterinary service SUGAR’S GIFT, INC. on that date.
(11)

SUGAR’S GIFT, INC.’s mission is to provide end-of-life hospice, euthanasia, and veterinary services for terminally ill pets who need veterinary services at their owners’ homes. This could be due to the pet’s inability to be moved or treated at a facility or due to the owner’s inability to leave the home, for example, if either pet or owner is home-bound. was formed because of a personal story and

very few solutions that were available to us. Our 10-year old Yorkie, Sugar, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had spread to her liver, and ultimately to her nervous system, in mid-September 2013. We cared for her around the clock until the day we had to have her put to sleep, which was October 18, 2013. That date is significant in our lives, which is why we incorporated SUGAR’S GIFT, INC. This is very difficult for us to say, but we must. Please DO NOT contact us about euthanizing your pet when there is another alternative. Simply because he/she has become an "inconvenience" or because you cannot afford to keep him or her....or because his or her medical expenses are too expensive is NOT a reason to call us. We will not help you in that situation. There are animal rescues and senior pet rescues that specialize in helping with medical expenses or who will take your pet and re-home him or her. Your pet would have the chance to be loved by someone else who either can afford to care for him or her, or who can afford his or her medical expenses. We are here to help those who truly have pets at their “End of Life” phase and homebound pet owners whose pets are truly at their “End of life” phase. We know we will get some hate mail and and messages because of this notice, but anyone who truly loves his or her pets will understand this message. We love all animals and want the best for each and every one of them. We understand the inability to care for pets and their expenses. If that is the case, a surrender to a rescue is a better alternative for your pet - not euthanasia. It is not about a better alternative for you.🌈

This handsome man, Stycks, crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently with our help. What a wonderful kitty he was for his family. Thank you, Drs. Wendy and Kyle for your compassionate help.

From Mom and Dad, Laren and Sean;

“Stycks was almost 20 years old and with our family for 15+ years. We will miss his big personality. Standoffish at first, he would eventually warm up to anyone who fed him tuna! 🍣 He experienced the harsh winters in Michigan to the sunny summers in Florida. Stycks loved his beanie baby “Kitty” that he would carry around in his mouth as if it were his baby. We would often find Stycks and Kitty cuddled up on the couch or drinking out of the water dish together. 🤪Stycks eventually became a brother to our two dogs, Ollie and Peach. They were the three best friends that anyone could have. 🥰 We will miss Stycks so much. We are so grateful to Sugar’s Gift and the amazing vet team who helped Stycks cross the Rainbow Bridge peacefully from home.💕🌈✨”

Beautiful Stycks, be at peace and healthy again at the Bridge and watch over Mom and Dad now, and your best friends. Run and play with our babies….

Until We Meet Again….❤️🐾🌈

This handsome boy, George Finck, crossed the Rainbow Bridge earlier today with our help. Thank you, Drs. Wendy and Kyle for your compassionate help for George and his Family.

From Mom and Dad, Rennie and Bob:

“George came to use in November of 2014. He was found wandering in the Everglades where he approached a ranger that saved him. He was taken to animal services in Miami and then Cocker Rescue of Florida. He has been the absolute best boy since the day he came home. The most loving and even-tempered pup ever! So trusting even with all that he had been through. Just an all-around happy boy who loved everyone- humans and other animals. He is truly my baby and my heart is having a tough time but I know that it is the gift I had to give him. Sugar's Gift veterinarians and Nikki were amazing and made the very hard process so much easier and the end so pain-free for George. He had a salami and cheese sandwich for breakfast and went peacefully to be with his brothers- even lightly snoring : ) Run free my God Boy!”

Sweet George, be healthy and playful again - tell our babies at the Bridge how much we miss and love them….

Until We Meet Again….❤️🐾🌈

This sweet duo, Mona and Peppe Basilone, crossed the Rainbow Bridge together recently with our help. It is so sad to lose 2 babies together, but knowing they are together at the Bridge now helps (a little). Thank you to Drs. Wendy and Kyle for their assistance in their transition.

From Mom, Lori:

"Mona and Peppe
Mona brought joy and love to our family for 14 and a half years. Her name is the combination of Mom & Nana…she was my grief support after the unexpected loss of my Mother and Nana to all the grandchildren in our family in 2010.

She loved playing with her little round soft squeaky toys, which started with a gift from her big human sister ‘Na… dumpling, brownie bite, pearl & popcorn. She said good night every night to her human big brother J, always with a happy little pug tail wag.

Peppe was our little boy who came into our family just 10 months after Mona. He and Mona were the best of siblings and could always be found playing together, taking long walks with Mom, and cuddling up together on the newest bed or any blankets! He was Mom’s shadow and was found howling when he was left home alone on the occasion that Mom had to take Mona to the vet separately!

Peppe loved his stuffed toys and would always run to his toy bucket to bring a toy to Mom whenever she came home from an outing.

A special shoutout to McKenna White who was always willing to help take care of the pugs when we went away, and kept us entertained with daily photos of their “antics”.

As they lived a life well lived and well loved together, may they run free once again together and may they always remember, we’ll be right back❤️"

Mona and Peppe, you were so special to your Mommy - please be healthy now and let her know you are safe and at peace, together...

Until We Meet Again.... ❤️🐾🌈

PSA: warning for animal owners - from someone in Parrish….

Please be aware of the toxic cane toad. We live in Copperstone and our sweet beagle came in contact with a cane toad Tuesday evening in our backyard. She came inside and had trouble standing. She started having tremors and then full blown seizures within minutes. She is a healthy 3 year old dog with no preexisting conditions. My husband ran her to the Vet Med Center of LWR. The next day was very scary where we (and the vet) were not sure she would pull through. On day 2 we took her to get an MRI with Dr Levine. This was the first positive news we received, that there was no major brain damage. She started a very slow recovery after that. We were able to bring her home this morning but she is still very heavily medicated. The recovery should take 2-3 weeks but we are still praying for a full recovery.

-Cane toads come out at dusk and like to hang around dripping water like pool pumps and AC units. They burrow in the ground during the day

-Cane toads can cause death within an hour if not treated

-If your dog/ cat comes in contact with one, spray their mouth with a hose and rush to the vet asap

Friends, this week has been challenging with the weather and our visitor, Debby…..our property was flooded and we had a lot of limbs and debris all over. We are east of Lakewood Ranch which got the largest amount of rainfall from Debby. Many roads were impassable due to rising water everywhere. Due to this and the vets being in a similar situation, we have not been able to schedule appointments this week. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and expect to resume our schedule next week.

Thank you for your understanding and patience!❤️🐾🌈

Gorgeous Oreo Fitch had the softest, most beautiful coat. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently and we send hugs to his wonderful family. Thank you Drs. Wendy and Kyle for always being there for all of us.

From Oreo's Family:

We rescued Oreo and adopted him from Big Hearts Tiny Paws 🐾 in the summer of 2012. Oreo was filled with puppy energy and loved to steal shoes and socks. He would take our shoes and keep them in the middle of the room. We think that was his way of saying he didn’t want us to leave again . Oreo was a “Good Boy” the pal you always wanted around. So snuggly ,warm, and sweet. He protected his people and his sister Lily. He was always the hit of the party. Oreo lived a long and great life from Buffalo snow, boating on Lime Lake, sunning in Florida and parties all along the way. We love you Oreo and will miss you every day❤️🌈 Over the rainbow bridge you went. I always knew you were heaven sent. I cherish our time spent together. Till we meet again… I love you forever!

Thank you so very much Nikki for your organization. We are so grateful for your organization in helping Oreo cross the rainbow bridge in the comfort of his home. Drs Wendy Ying and Kyle Swanson were so kind and comforting. We are forever grateful for Sugarsgift❤️🌈 Barb , Dan , Joe and Lily Fitch"

Be at peace and pain free, sweet Oreo, and watch over your loving family...

Until We Meet Again...❤️🐾🌈

This handsome man, Anakin Shippey, crossed the Rsinbow Bridge with our help recently. Mom, Amber. Is heartbroken, so please help her understand they are still with us…

From Mom Amber:

“This is Anakin. I got him when he was 2 at Fulton County Animal Shelter in Georgia. He was 27 pounds and was used as a bait dog before he was brought in. The day that I got him was supposed to be his last day. As a former bait dog, he has always been scared of a lot of things including rain, thunderstorms and vacuums. He loves to be around his family and he loves being around babies. When I had my son he would always be by his side. He has been the best companion as my “20’s dog” and I couldn’t have grown into an adult without a better friend. I am going to miss him immensely. He is so loved by everyone.”

Anakin, be healthy at the Bridge again and run like a puppy….watch over mom and tell her you are ok….

Until We Meet Again….❤️🐾🌈

Our Story

The mission of Sugar’s Gift™ Inc. is to provide hospice, euthanasia and end-of-life veterinary services for terminally ill pets in their own homes. This allows them a comfortable, peaceful setting, where they have lived and been loved, to cross over the Rainbow Bridge with dignity. Our services overcome conditions that could be due to the pet’s inability to be moved or treated at a facility, or due to the owner’s inability to leave the home. We also help those Little Angels whose pet owners can afford veterinary care but prefer to donate to an organization that can help their babies cross the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity and peace.

Our 10-year old Yorkie, Sugar, passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2013. We made sure she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity and peace. Sugar’s gift to your Little Angel is to allow them the same privilege: Sugar is helping them cross over the Rainbow Bridge from home, with the help from others who have donated funds to make that happen. Every Little Angel should be able to spend their last moments in the place they are most comfortable – at home.

We also provide education to pet owners in a workshop setting to help them understand the benefits of Pet Trusts in their Estate Planning Documents. It is our intention to give them the information they need to recognize how impactful their written last wishes can be to the future of their beloved pet - either positively or negatively.

Sugar’s Gift™ is the only non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization in the country whose mission is to help terminally ill pets cross over the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity and peace. Sugar’s Gift™ was formed because of a personal story and very few solutions that were available to us.
