Sugar's Gift Inc.

Sugar's Gift Inc. Sugar’s Gift™: Our mission is to provide hospice, euthanasia and end-of-life veterinary service SUGAR’S GIFT, INC. on that date.

SUGAR’S GIFT, INC.’s mission is to provide end-of-life hospice, euthanasia, and veterinary services for terminally ill pets who need veterinary services at their owners’ homes. This could be due to the pet’s inability to be moved or treated at a facility or due to the owner’s inability to leave the home, for example, if either pet or owner is home-bound. was formed because of a personal story and

very few solutions that were available to us. Our 10-year old Yorkie, Sugar, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had spread to her liver, and ultimately to her nervous system, in mid-September 2013. We cared for her around the clock until the day we had to have her put to sleep, which was October 18, 2013. That date is significant in our lives, which is why we incorporated SUGAR’S GIFT, INC. This is very difficult for us to say, but we must. Please DO NOT contact us about euthanizing your pet when there is another alternative. Simply because he/she has become an "inconvenience" or because you cannot afford to keep him or her....or because his or her medical expenses are too expensive is NOT a reason to call us. We will not help you in that situation. There are animal rescues and senior pet rescues that specialize in helping with medical expenses or who will take your pet and re-home him or her. Your pet would have the chance to be loved by someone else who either can afford to care for him or her, or who can afford his or her medical expenses. We are here to help those who truly have pets at their “End of Life” phase and homebound pet owners whose pets are truly at their “End of life” phase. We know we will get some hate mail and and messages because of this notice, but anyone who truly loves his or her pets will understand this message. We love all animals and want the best for each and every one of them. We understand the inability to care for pets and their expenses. If that is the case, a surrender to a rescue is a better alternative for your pet - not euthanasia. It is not about a better alternative for you.🌈

I sometimes find myself thinking about how my dog pulled me through. Not in any big, dramatic way, but in the quiet moments when life just felt too heavy. He didn’t need answers or advice to offer; he was just there, beside me, every single day. When I was worn out and ready to throw in the towel, he'd give me that little nudge, his eyes saying, "You’re okay. We’ve got this." And somehow, that was enough to keep going.

He never cared about the mistakes I made or judged me for falling short. He simply showed up, steady and loyal in a way you don’t always see in people.
There are days I wonder where I’d be without him—probably lost in my own chaos, tangled up in thoughts I can’t control. But he’s here, keeping me grounded in the simplest way. And that’s how he saved me,one day at a time, just by being there, exactly when I needed someone the most.

Sweet Remi Long crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday with our help. Mom, Kim, is heartbroken and needs some help from all of you who have been through the grief she is experiencing. As always, Drs. Wendy and Kyle with Holistic Veterinary House Calls and Cheryl Brady with Vet Care Express Animal Ambulance were there for all of us. Thank you❤️

From Mom, Kim:

“I adopted Remi when he was almost 10, and he looked and acted like he was 2. His personality was captivating and fearless from the moment I met him. He was perpetually playful and resilient, which reminded me many times of my father. I feel like the luckiest person alive to have had the privilege of knowing, loving, and caring for him for these past 5 years. Every moment with him was a blessing.

With deep gratitude,
Kim”

Handsome Remi, rest easy now, sweet boy. I know you tried hard to stay with Mom as long as you could, but we are glad you were at peace and with your Mom when you made your crossing. Hugs to all of our babies from us….

Until We Meet Again….❤️🐾🌈

Beautiful Misty Moss crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently with our help. Her family hated to let her go but knew it was the right thing for Misty. I know all of us completely understand their dilemma.❤️. Thank you Drs. Wendy and Kyle with Holistic Veterinary House Calls and Cheryl Brady with Vet Care Express Animal Ambulance for their help and compassionate care.

From Mom, Dana:

Misty - 3/2/2010 to 1/14/2025

“Misty joined our family when she was six years old. The first day we brought her home, our younger daughter said Misty was "majestic." We couldn't have agreed more. Misty immediately fit in and went to work guarding the house. Misty’s endearing qualities shone brightest when she played with children and puppies. She loved to entice her humans to chase her and her stuffed animals around the house. As she approached her 15th birthday, our sweet girl grew tired and no longer played. We struggled to accept that we would soon have to say goodbye. Our vet recommended that we call Sugar's Gift, Inc. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for Nikki and the team at Sugar's Gift. Because of Sugar's Gift, Misty peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge with dignity at home and surrounded by family. Sugar's Gift, Inc. will forever be the bright light that helped us through a dark time.”

Sweet Misty, we are glad you are at peace now and can run and play again with all of our babies at the Bridge. Let your family know you are always with them….and will live in their hearts forever.

Until We Meet Again…❤️🐾🌈

Old but gold! ❤️

In a world that often overlooks the old and weary, dedicating oneself to adopting senior dogs is a profound act of love. Every dog deserves a safe haven and a chance to feel cherished. By opening our hearts, we create a ripple of compassion that transforms lives, both theirs and ours.

"In this life, you're meant to have one great dog," I said.

"One that shifts something deep inside you, in a way you never saw coming. He shows up maybe when you need him most, maybe when you're too lost to see it. And in the smallest, most ordinary moments, he changes you."

I paused thinking of all the nights, I trudged through, feeling like I was carrying the weight of the world alone.
"He's the one who brings you back, makes it bearable when you're tethering on the edge. He doesn't try to explain or preach. He just stays there, showing you a kind of love you didn't think existed."

And that's the thing about that one great dog, he makes you question how you ever got by without him. You look at him, lying there, and realize he's given you more than any person ever has - no big speeches, just a presence, that says I'm here with you. And somehow that's enough to change everything.

One day, we’ll meet again…..until then, my sweet babies….❤️🐾🌈

When a dog leaves this world, they take a piece of our hearts with them, carrying it to some boundless place where time and pain don’t exist, where they can finally run as far and as freely as they’ve always wanted. Imagine them there, in open fields warmed by an endless sun, no ache to slow them down, no age to tether them. They’re just as they were in their happiest moments—full of life, full of that bright, simple joy.
In this place, they have everything they ever loved. There’s a soft patch of grass under an open sky where they can roll around, the kind of sunlit spot they’d pick on a lazy afternoon. There are endless scents leading down trails that never end, with places to rest just the way they liked, curled up and content. It’s the home we’d want for them, a place that feels like love itself.
And somehow, they’re still connected to us. They remember every pat on the head, every quiet moment when you needed them most. They remember that shared glance, that familiar walk, and every little way you showed them they were loved. And they’re waiting, knowing somehow, somewhere, you’ll find them again.
One day, when you finally meet again, they’ll come running toward you, just like they used to, eyes bright, heart full, as if no time has passed at all. In that moment, every goodbye you ever said will turn into a hello again, and that love you shared will feel as whole as it ever was. Because that bond, that unbreakable bond, doesn’t fade—it just waits for you, ready to be picked up right where you left it.

Our Story

The mission of Sugar’s Gift™ Inc. is to provide hospice, euthanasia and end-of-life veterinary services for terminally ill pets in their own homes. This allows them a comfortable, peaceful setting, where they have lived and been loved, to cross over the Rainbow Bridge with dignity. Our services overcome conditions that could be due to the pet’s inability to be moved or treated at a facility, or due to the owner’s inability to leave the home. We also help those Little Angels whose pet owners can afford veterinary care but prefer to donate to an organization that can help their babies cross the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity and peace.

Our 10-year old Yorkie, Sugar, passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2013. We made sure she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity and peace. Sugar’s gift to your Little Angel is to allow them the same privilege: Sugar is helping them cross over the Rainbow Bridge from home, with the help from others who have donated funds to make that happen. Every Little Angel should be able to spend their last moments in the place they are most comfortable – at home.

We also provide education to pet owners in a workshop setting to help them understand the benefits of Pet Trusts in their Estate Planning Documents. It is our intention to give them the information they need to recognize how impactful their written last wishes can be to the future of their beloved pet - either positively or negatively.

Sugar’s Gift™ is the only non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization in the country whose mission is to help terminally ill pets cross over the Rainbow Bridge from home with comfort, dignity and peace.
