We are changing with the times.We have taken over caring for 2 new rescues.
One is Hobi ( yes,a cat) and the other is Lilly( a stray pup).We also still support fostered pups.Lilly is in a foster to adopt home. Hobi is still waiting for a home.

His medical care was paid for by Forget-me-not . Appears senior , hypothyroid( 3 months supply of a pill offered to anyone who adopts him) Negative for Hiv, Leukemia and worms. We are saddened to state that Skipper, who had been waiting for a long time for his own home, suddenly passed due to inoperable conditions.His life of 9 years were spent in 3 different shelters. His last 2+ years, were with the Forget-me-not family. We laughed at his antics, loved, and cared for him as well as we could.His last 6 months he had training at Alpha Basic Training for Dogs and Humans, LLC , where he learn new behavior skills. He returned to his foster home, where he enjoyed his food with freshly cooked rice and organic fruit treats and toys. We can close our eyes and still see him wagging his tail. We loved him.

For our LONG time followers, we got a surprise pupdate from this guys furever family. This is Clyde taken in 9 years ago and adopted 7 years ago, his mom told us about some of the adventures and activities he's been on in the last few years. We love these stories. Every dog deserves these stories, that's why we do what we do 🥰

Start collecting items. It's hurricane season.

Do you know how to put together a hurricane disaster kit for your pets? Hurricane Season is still here, and as always, it is better to make preparations before they are needed.

The Humane Society of the United States suggests that in your kit, you will need:

Food and water for at least five days for each pet, bowls and a manual can opener if you are packing canned pet food.

Medications, medical records and microchip information stored in a waterproof container.

A pet first aid kit that includes a book on pet first aid, gauze, nonstick tape, pet shampoo, tweezers, antibiotic ointment, styptic powder (for small wounds) and activated charcoal (for poison exposure.) Many pet supply retailers sell pet first aid kits. Note that many of these items will be in your own disaster first aid kit.

Sturdy leashes, harnesses and secure carriers to transport pets safely and to ensure that your pets can't escape. Make sure that your cat or dog is wearing a collar and identification that is up to date and visible at all times. Carriers should be large enough to allow your pet to stand comfortably, turn around and lie down.

If you have a cat, a litter box, litter, litter scoop and garbage bags to collect all your pets' waste.

Current photos of you with your pets and descriptions of your pets to help others identify them in case you and your pets become separated—and to prove that they are yours once you're reunited.

Written information about your pets' feeding schedules, medical conditions and behavior issues along with the name and number of your veterinarian.
A favorite toy for comfort and a familiar blanket for warmth, particularly for smaller pets.

Pets are family. Remember to include them in your planning for Hurricane Season.

UPDATE GABBY HAS BEEN ADOPTED BY A FAMILY FRIEND!! This is Gabby, abandoned as a small puppy, one of our long time volunteers picked her up and gave her a great start in life. Gabby is a mixed breed female, estimated about 6 months old, 35 lbs, and she is UTD on all shots and is also spayed. She loves people and plays great with other dogs. She hasn't lived with cats but doesn't seem bothered by the outside ones at her residence. If you'd like to meet Gabby please message us so we can get you in contact with her foster mom, Michelle.

If you have seen Skipper before posted for adoption for a long time, you are correct.He was rescued from the county shelter in pretty bad shape. After years of different treatments and tests he is doing better.He recently completed 2 months of training.He needs a single person,(no roommates) who understands he needs someone who is willing to hold his leash or put him in a safe room when someone enters the home.He has no mobility issues, 8 years old ,and up to date on shots. Don't be afraid of his allergies since we have it figured out.He weighs 30 pounds.He does well with other dogs.He has waited for years for a person to love him like he would love them.Interested? 941-500-4269 [email protected]

This is the time of year when dogs loose it and go missing. FIREWORKS scare animals.

If you don’t have tags on your animals AT LEAST do this for them so when they are found they can make it back home.

No one likes to be scared and lost.
