It's the middle of June and the heat is turning up! So here's a few reminders to help you navigate the rest of the summer:

You're welcome to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, or bug spray. If you need to stand your horse in the shade for a few minutes while riding, or a drink, just speak up!

If the 'feels like' temperature is 95 or higher for your lesson time, I will be reaching out to reschedule. Part of good horsemanship is knowing when you're putting yourself and your horse in unsafe riding conditions. IF you are unable to reschedule, we can continue with the lesson time but give a horse a bath, clean water troughs, or clean tack under a tree outside. I do not want anyone to pay for a lesson that they didn't get, but it is your choice if you'd like to opt out of the reschedule and this type of lesson.

Let's continue having a safe and happy Summer!

Can you believe that May is almost over? Our Summer Session is about to start! Please reach out to pick your days/times for the summer and keep the temperatures in mind!! Most of our lesson times will be morning and early afternoon to avoid overheating the horses and riders.
Some tips:
Please feel free to bring a water bottle to set on a fence post while you ride. You're welcome to take a drink break as needed. Please make sure that it is closable and is not your favorite, just in case it falls!
Bug spray is also welcome!
Remember that appropriate riding attire is still required! Please no shorts or cropped shirts (exposing midriff) while riding for safety reasons.

Has Spring finally sprung??

It is the last week of February and this is your reminder to book for March!!
As always, new students can join any time during the month. If you haven't read our updated policy, please scroll down to do so now!

02/06/2025

Important Policy Update!!
Attention all current, returning, and new students! PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE UPDATE

As of March 1st, 2025, the barn will be switching to a prepaid lesson system.

WHY?

- We’ve been facing some scheduling challenges lately, and it's become evident that we need to improve our accountability in this area. Last year, the number of scheduled lessons that were missed not only impacted our barn financially but also created unnecessary stress for everyone involved. This is an attempt to increase accountability without resorting to monthly tuition. I appreciate everyone’s efforts and believe this will be a better solution.

So how is this going to work?

-To schedule March dates, reach out to me during the last week of February. We will find dates and times that work for you and tentatively write them in. Payment for March lessons will be due by the 1st at which point in time, your lessons will be secured. During the last week of March the process repeats.

-If you are a new student and would like to join mid-month, that is absolutely ok. Once again just reach out, we'll come up with a schedule and once you've paid, you may start.

-We are choosing to do this per month to avoid confusion in keeping track of how many prepaid lessons each individual has left. However, multiple months may be scheduled, paid for, and secured at once.

So how does this change affect students, while keeping to the business plan of offering affordable services?

-Students still have the option to book as often as they’d like (weekly/bi-weekly/etc). The difference is that I will only secure that students booking(s) when payment is made.

-If a student is in good standing with the business and cannot pay in full at the time of booking, arrangements may be offered to split the billing accordingly (1st and 15th of the month). The amount owed on those dates will reflect all lessons being scheduled between them.

What if you book but cannot make it to your lesson?

-If cancelled more than 24 hours prior to lesson time, you will have the ability to reschedule that lesson within the same month.

- We will do our best to accommodate last minute rescheduling due to illness/injury, but reserve the right to limit this if the reason is given too frequently.

-If there are less than 7 calendar dates left in the current month when you need to reschedule, you will be given 7 calendar dates from the date that the lesson was originally scheduled for to make it up.

-It will be YOUR responsibility to reach out and reschedule if you need to. If you choose not to, the lesson will be considered forfeited at the end of the month that it was scheduled in.

What about inclement weather?

-We will reach out in the event of severe weather and offer a reschedule.

-We reserve the right to switch to an unmounted barn lesson. There are many valuable things to be learned on the ground and in the barn!

-If you do not want to participate in an unmounted lesson, you can choose to forfeit that lesson. We encourage all students not to though!

Thank you all for your understanding! If there are any other questions, please drop them in the comments below so that I may address them!

We're celebrating 10 years of being established this year! That's 10 years of Lessons (here or at your barn), Leasing, and Training as a business (and many years before that!). But did you know that I do so much more than those three things? Exercise rides, barn sitting, helping prepare for horse shows, and day of show coaching and grooming are all things offered based on availability.
Maybe I'm thinking Spring already, but this should be yet another great year at the barn!

Yes, it is cold. No, it is not too cold to ride! The horses have their Winter coats and are quite comfortable working currently!
So here are some Winter Tips!

1. Winter coveralls that are fitted properly can be ridden in. If you are cold, consider layering and wearing your coveralls.

2. Don't wear clunky gloves. If they are too big you will have to take them off to buckle things!

3. Insulated boots and boot socks. The combination can get your toes through some seriously cold weather working outside. Scarves are welcome as well!

4. For extra comfort, you can place a Hot Hands pouch in the toe of each boot and in each of your coat pockets to warm up your hands as needed.

5. Bring a hot drink in an insulated cup!

Lastly, remember that you're only out here for an hour. Continuing to ride through the winter keeps you moving forward in progress and keeps the horses fit. Keep a positive attitude and enjoy yourself! Riding in the snow is fun!

If the footing is too slippery, we can work on things in the barn. If the wind chill drops the temperature too low, I will reach out to cancel and reschedule your lesson. If roads become dangerous, by all means we will cancel and reschedule.

Now let's make this winter fun!

Holiday shopping is in full swing! Black Friday deals are everywhere! By all means, scoop up those steals and deals at the big stores. However, please pick up a few things from the local small business! You know, the parent of one of your kids friends? They're the first to donate or sponsor your community needs. They're feeling the pinch of the economy too! So when you're out shopping, grab coffee from the local coffee shop instead of the chain store. Get lunch at the local cafe. Get your stocking stuffers from the little stores downtown. Your support will make a difference to them! So please grab those deals, but remember to shop small and local as well!
Feel free to drop your favorite local small businesses in the comments so that we can all try to help them out, not just on Saturday, but this whole season! ⬇️
