 To quota a phrase from a movie series, “Winter is coming” If your pet is an avid outdoors sporting dog or an inside cuddle buddy, they have one thing in common. They need to go outside at some point. Antifreeze is great-tasting to pets, but even a very small amount ingested can be deadly. Please make sure all spills are cleaned up immediately and thoroughly. Contact your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your pets have ingested any antifreeze! In my pet CPR and 1st aid class we cover environmental emergencies for cold weather as well as several other medical emergencies. We also discuss what to do if your pets’ heart and breathing stop. If you are interested in learning more, please contact me at (218) 639-9813. My E-Mail address is [email protected]. You should also contact your local veterinarian for expert medical advice for your pets. Stay Warm!

Always take the time to properly train your dog, and follow the steps necessary to prepare in advance of a hunting trip. Proper preparation for a hunt will go a long way to ensuring a rewarding and invigorating bonding experience for you and your dog. If your dog does not take to hunting when you go out, or even looks stressed, do not force it on him. Accidents can happen when your dog does not properly follow his training due to stress or anxiety. Hunting can be very dangerous, so it is important to always err on the side of caution. After the hunt: Inspect for ticks or other critters that carry diseases. Extra food may be required to keep up energy. Praise, high praise to keep your pet interested and wanting to please you! Most importantly, Your hunting partner will require rest. If you are interested in learning more about how to respond to emergency situations or routine medical issues, please contact me for classes. If you are interested in Pet first aid kits, we have them available as well. Contact me at [email protected] or (218) 639-9813.
