This handsome husky pup runs on love and puppy energy — and he’s ready to find his forever adventure buddy! 💙

Brooks (or Brooksie, as his foster family calls him) is a smart and social 3-month-old who’s quickly learning all the good boy basics. He keeps his crate clean overnight, is doing great with potty training, and loves to play with his foster brother — especially when there’s a ball involved! 🎾

When playtime is over, Brooks is all about cozy vibes: a soft blanket, a good chew bone, and a comfy spot to nap. He’s about 25 lbs of pure joy and fluff, great with kids, and loves other dogs too! 🐶👧🧒

Love always finds its way back home — welcome back, sweet girl. 🫶🐾

Our girl Chrissy—now known as Maggie—has officially made her way back home to Northern Lakes Rescue. ❤️

Maggie was adopted as a puppy several years ago but recently found herself in an overcrowded Illinois shelter. Thanks to an incredible volunteer who made the long drive from Minnesota to bring her back—and an amazing foster who said “yes” when it mattered most—she’s safe and surrounded by love once again.

Tonight, Maggie is settling in for a cozy sleepover at the office, and tomorrow she’ll head to her foster home—where open arms (and soft beds) are waiting for her. 🏡

She has some significant hair loss and isn’t putting full weight on her right hind leg, but she is being kept comfortable and will be heading to the vet soon for a checkup. Despite everything, she was a total champ on the drive home—snoring, smiling, and even enjoying a pup cup along the way. ☕🐶

Rest easy, sweet Maggie. You’re home where you belong. 💕

Fosters make rescue possible. Without a foster saying “yes,” coming home wouldn’t have been an option for Maggie.

🚨🚨 Foster or Foster to Adopt Needed! 🚨🚨

Baloo’s stray hold is officially up this Saturday, and this sweet boy is more than ready to trade in his office crate for a cozy home. 💛

Baloo is currently staying at our office and spends most of his time in his crate inbetween volunteers visiting him and spending time with him. He’s such a good boy about it, but he deserves to be in a home where he’s not alone so much.

They say the name Lena means “light”—and that’s exactly what this 6-month-old, 22-pound sweetheart brings to every room she walks into! 🌟

Playful, gentle, and full of puppy charm, Lena loves toys, car rides, camping trips, and cozy cuddles after a long day of fun. She’s great with dogs, kids, and cats, though she can be a little curious around them. She is already crate-trained and working hard on her potty manners.

🚨HELP US BRING CHRISSY BACK HOME! 🚨
Every dog that comes to us leaves with a promise.

A promise that once they become part of the NLR family, they are always part of the NLR family. 💙

Chrissy is no different. (See comments for her cute puppy picture!)

We were recently contacted by an Animal Control Officer in Illinois after a dog linking back to Northern Lakes Rescue was surrendered to their shelter.

That dog… was Chrissy.

Chrissy is a 6-year-old pittie mix who came to us as a little puppy with her siblings, mom, and even grandma! She was adopted in 2019, but somewhere along the way, she was rehomed without our knowledge. Now, she’s found herself in an over-capacity shelter—covered in fleas and struggling with painful back legs. 💔

She was reportedly surrendered because she was “peeing on the new baby’s items.”

We see a dog who’s scared, uncomfortable, and just needs someone to care.

One of our incredible volunteers didn’t hesitate—she’s making a 7-hour drive each way to bring Chrissy home to safety. 🛻💨
