So excited to post the topics for the Holly Bushard seminar June 3rd!

Fun at the Farm!

8-12 Let’s play with VEHICLES! Join us for a morning of challenging and interesting vehicle set ups! We will explore different ways to introduce and add value to vehicles. We will tinker with different strategies and handling methods in the element! This session is appropriate for any dog who is working multiple hides and will be a lot of fun!

1-5 Rich and diverse search set ups! In this afternoon session, we will play with unique search areas afforded to us at the acreage! Any dog who is fluently working multiple hides is appropriate for this session. We will work though distractions, odor puzzles, and handling strategies as topics present themselves through the search work. This promises to be loads of fun!

This seminar will fill very fast so please get you entry form I’m ASAP!

November 5th we are bringing in Holly Bushard!

AM Session 8-12: Behavior Chains in Nosework

Join us for a half-day of exploring the numerous behavior chains that occur in our sport! In this seminar, we will look at all of the individual pieces that come together to shape our competition experiences. We will practice and discuss each of the steps of a search in all of their component parts. How we prepare our dogs to move into staging, how we wait for our search to start, how we enter the search area, how we pursue odor, how we alert, and how we get back to the car will all be discussed and practiced with attention to detail. It will be a fun day of dissecting our strengths and weaknesses as a team so we can best plan and prepare for the upcoming show season!

PM Session12:30-4:30: These hides present different excitement and challenger ot scent sport handlers! How should be practice them? How do we reinforce them? When do we call them?

While there are no perfect answers to these challenges, there are many strategies that can reduce the discomfort and mystery. Join us for an afternoon of playing with these outliers. Your eye will grow more experienced with reading inaccessible behaviors and your dog will enjoy an afternoon of working rich and interesting hides!

Holly started her scent work journey as a narcotics dog handler. She is now a judge, competitor and coach. Holly has worked with many breeds of dogs and understands the wide variety of challenges teams face. As a judge with three venues (AKC, CPE, and NACSW) she has a clear understanding of what is expected at a competitive level. Holly loves helping teams enjoy the journey of nosework. Watching joyful teams exploring and dissecting the challenges of the game has become her favorite pastime.
Holly has competed extensively in the sport with her own whippets (2), pit bull, and golden retriever. Her partner, Mahto, is the first whippet to achieve the title of NACSW Elite Champion.
