Turner recently came to VUCC Worcester because he wasn’t acting himself and was in discomfort. After exam, our team was able to notice a yellowish object stuck in his gums, causing some bleeding. We sedated Turner and removed the object and gave the area a good cleaning before getting this pup back home to rest and recover. Urgent Minute with VUCC: Anaplasmosis
🐾 Anaplasmosis in Dogs: What You Need to Know 🐾
Did you know your furry friend could be at risk for anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease? 🐶🦠 This condition is caused by a bacteria transmitted through tick bites.
Signs to Watch For:
🐕 Lethargy
🐕 Fever
🐕 Joint pain or lameness
🐕 Loss of appetite
🐕 Vomiting
💡 Prevention is key! Regular tick prevention, frequent checks for ticks, and avoiding tall grasses can significantly reduce the risk. We are continuing to see tick activity due to the more mild winters we have experienced!
If your dog is showing any of these symptoms or has been exposed to ticks, don’t wait! Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial. 🏥

VUCC Urgent Minute: Sebaceous Cysts
🐾 What You Need to Know About Sebaceous Cysts in Pets! 🐾
Have you noticed a small, bump-like lump on your pet's skin? It could be a sebaceous cyst! These are non-cancerous growths that form when a hair follicle or skin gland gets clogged. While they're usually harmless, they can sometimes become irritated or infected.
✨ What to Watch For:
* A smooth, round lump under the skin
* Swelling or redness around the area
* Signs of discomfort if your pet licks or scratches it
📋 What You Should Do:
* Keep an eye on the cyst’s size and appearance.
* Avoid squeezing or poking it, as this can cause infection.
* Visit a veterinarian to see if further testing is needed to rule out more serious illness.
We are here 7 days a week in 7 locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island for your pet's urgent needs. Book online or view our hours before you walk-in at veturgentcare.com
