We had a blast last night at the Joni and Friends Gala!! It was a nice evening we got to spend together! Most importantly it was good to see the impact that Joni and Friends makes and how it affects people across the world!

We love our volunteers and the work they put in to Hearts of Steele. We would not be the family we are without them!🧡

Wow! A time was had at Joni and friends!
Joni and friends is an organization that reaches and serves people with disabilities and shares the Gospel and the good news of Jesus Christ.

On october 18th, Joni and friends hosted their annual Barnyard dance, it was a blast! We had a fantastic time providing our horses for rides!! We are grateful for all of the volunteers that made it possible!🧡

It’s through collaboration with like minded organizations to educate and impact people with special needs on the benefits of Equine Facilitated Learning. Horses are special and to work alongside them and be a partner with them is something you will never forget🐴💕

We have our riders try different positions ride ba****ck and utilize natural elements during sessions for these reasons:

1. Increased Focus: The act of riding ba****ck requires attention to both the horse's movement and the rider's body. This helps individuals direct their focus toward a specific task, minimizing distractions

2. Sensory Regulation: The rhythm of the horse's movement can provide a calming, repetitive sensory input that can help regulate the nervous system. This sensory feedback can be grounding, making it easier for the rider to remain calm and focused learning to respond not react.

3. Improved Body Awareness: Different positions foster proprioception (awareness of the body in space), which can help individuals feel more in control of their movement.

4. Mind-Body Connection: Engaging the mind and body simultaneously can improve impulse control and attention span.

5. Look at these confident riders and smiles!!! 🧡🐴✨

This video is so fun to watch and everyone is having a good time. Underneath the joy there are some super important happenings we are blessed to be a part of. 😇

Partnering means physical, emotional, mental and spiritual communication.

For people that do not know how to communicate, deal with trauma, or have physical and/or mental challenges- partnering does not come naturally.

These sweet students are using all of their faculties to manage and cope in a new experience.

They are watching the horses behavior and reaction; checking spatial awareness, utilizing problem solving skills and responding to the horse’s body position with theirs. They are doing all these things calmly while experiencing the joy of the unpredictability.
Horses love to play and are curious too! 🧡🐴✨

Please share with someone you know that could benefit or come join us yourself for some engaging growth, joy and fun! 🐴✨

A little Saturday fun!! Apache and Carti 🐴 decided to go for a little swim 😆 our riders did a good job with balance and staying on 🤠

When working with horses you have to have trust and be a good leader. Getting Dolly to walk through the little pool of water is a huge win!! 🤗

Olivia getting willow onto the wash rack area in the background is a small win too! That’s another example of trust. 🧡

We have been busy working with our horse partners on trust, patience, and balance!! We went on the trail, utilized the obstacles in the arena, hosed the horses off with water.

We have been busy but we had FUN🤗 and learned along the way. 🐴🧡

We can officially put our first camp down in the books!! We had so much fun and it turned out great! We rode horses, played in the dirt and hay, painted Carti 🐴 , learned about horse anatomy and awareness when being around them.

We also had a visit from Cindy Hyde-Smith senator’s office to learn about what we do! Hearts of Steele is growing and God is the one to thank!🧡 It is only up from here!
