A special GOOD LUCK shoutout to Therese and Abbey as they prepare to compete at AKC’s Agility Nationals in Tulsa this weekend.

Team Abbey will warm up today (Thursday) and then compete in the JWW, Standard, Premier, and Hybrid classes on Friday and Saturday. We hope they have fast, smooth, clean runs, but most importantly have FUN and soak in all the excitement.

BARK member Hanna Freeman handled president June Atwood’s mini American shepherd, KyLee, this past Saturday. It was team KyLee’s third show, and first attempt for a Q. Kylee managed two Qs, a FAST and JWW, both with First Places!!

BARK Agility Student Kimberly Poe and her dog Guinevere had a great Saturday at Swamp Dog agility in Covington, LA.

Kimberly has been training with BARK for about a year, this weekend she and Guinevere placed first in their class for FAST. This was also their first trial to try for a “Q”. BARK looks forward to seeing their success throughout the rest of the year!

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will have its annual Masters Obedience and Agility Championship tomorrow (February 8). You can view from 7:30 am until 7:00pm at westminsterkennelclub.org

It’s that time of year! AKC will be enacting changes to various regulations. Please check the policies for each competition/club/event you are showing your dog with. Here are most popular updates. Let us know in the comments if we missed something!

Scent work: dogs can no longer wear head collars to compete, enter the competition area, or exit the area. Regular harnesses, flat collars, or martingale collars only.

Rally/Obedience: High Jump Panels must now be displaceable. Full effect July 1, 2025

Herding: there is a new breed prefix for FSS herding breeds effective March 25, 2025.

DNA Testing: dogs being DNA testing must be isolated 30 minutes prior to administering the test.
