We were visited today by Paws at the University of Tampa. Their mission is through hands-on volunteer work and a variety of fundraisers, we work to enrich the lives of animals in Tampa Bay rescues, rehabs, and sanctuaries. This great group helped us clean up the pastures, put fresh shavings in all the stalls, wash all the feed buckets and, the most fun part, learn how to groom and bathe a horse. Everyone had a good morning and Tally got a lot of kisses.

Meet Faction Cat. He's a 12 year old gelding who had a successful racing career. He had 35 starts with 26 of those in the money. He had a record-setting win in the 2020 Turf-Dash Stakes and won five consecutive races at Tampa Bay Downs and never finished worse than third in any of his 9 starts at that track. He really liked Tampa Bay Downs. He's now in re-training and this smart, handsome boy is coming along nicely. Love those chestnuts.

We had volunteer orientation this morning at the farm. Here are some of the attending getting to know our pretty girl Hottie. If anyone is interested in helping us out and working around our great horses, our next orientation is October 11 at 10 a.m. We welcome people with horse experience and also people who love them and want to know more about them. Our most favorite day of the year is when the Gaither High School NJROTC comes out and spends half of the day getting more work done then we could in months! This time they helped relevel stalls, paint/repair fences, and clean up some pastures. This group gives it their all every year, it is always a pleasure having them.

We held a training session for some of our volunteers this morning. One Saturday out of the month we focus on a topic of horse care. Today’s session was about summer sores and the benefits of our cold laser made by Brandenburg Equine Therapy. They learned how to use the laser which aids in the healing of soft tissue injuries and wounds in addition to the application of vet wrap to the leg to keep the wounds clean.
