Proper field care and caping is essential to getting the best mount possible. Here’s some reference on where to make cuts to cape your deer properly.
A few other tips,
*keep your cape clean, cold and dry
*try to avoid dragging your deer without something underneath it.
*Don’t slice the ears to tag.
*If you can’t get it to your taxidermist in a timely manner
Freeze it!
