Everyone meet Gabri!!

Gabri has experience taking care of dogs (all ages and sizes), cats (all ages), small rodents, fish, pet birds as well as chickens, goats, and equine.

Gabri is available for mid-day walk to help your dogs burn off some excess energy, overnight visits, and multiple drop In visits per day if needed.

In the past she has worked as a petting zoo zookeeper and was one of the people in charge of caring for the parrots and parakeets as well as the miniature ponies and goats. She has experience working with and around horses as well, as she grew up taking lessons and worked as a barn hand for a few years for a family friend. Gabri is also a certified Zookeeper’s Assistant.

We are so excited to have her and be able to cover much more of the Branson area!

With winter in full swing, how are you keeping your pets entertained?!!! Also, did you know one of our favorite small businesses Gingham and Grace makes Snuffle Mats?!!!

Did you know, no matter the species, all animals can benefit from enrichment? It's true! As science is progressing and our knowledge of animals are progressing they're discovering more and more that even snakes can enjoy the enrichment of their environment. A critter once thought to care about nothing at all.

Enrichment toys have come a long way even just in the last 5 years! There is toys for horses, birds, fish, reptiles, and our everyday critter like dogs and cats. It's quite amazing!

Here are a few benefits to offering enrichment, no matter the critter :
1) Enrichment offers our critters the ability to exercise their brains and bodies, whether they're running in a wheel or needing to navigate how to get a treat out of a toy.
2) Most animals receive more exercise with an enrichment toy than a normal walk or run could offer! A dog for example has to use its brain and nose to find a treat, they have to solve the puzzle to get to it. That's often more tiring than a walk for most.
3) Animals who are offered nothing new to their environment can become bored or even destructive, enrichment toys can help with that! It offers the critter something new to discover and figure out, which can result in less boredom, thus less destruction.
4) Enrichment toys can be super cheap! Many folks will use toilet paper rolls with treats inside then fold in the sides, it's cheap, easy, and if it gets destroyed it's no harm. Some folks will freeze new toys, treats, or even the critters favorite food in ice to give their pets a new toy to break apart on a hot day.

We're hosting our monthly low cost vaccination and microchip clinic this Saturday, February 15, starting at 9am! If your pet is in need of a vaccine or microchip, we encourage you to stop in. We accept walk-ins only, so no appointment is needed!

🐶 We're now offering the Leptospirosis vaccine for dogs! Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that is spread through the urine of infected animals and can transmit through contact with contaminated water or soil. All dogs are at risk of Lepto, but you may consider getting this vaccine for your dog if they are often exposed to lakes or river water, farm animals or wildlife, or around other pets at a dog park or boarding facility to give your dog extra protection.

Note: If it's your dog's first Leptospirosis vaccine, you will need to have a booster shot administered one month later. We will have the initial vaccine and boosters at all future vaccination clinics.

Spots are limited to 80 people, and each individual can bring up to 3 pets with them. It's first come, first served! This event will take place at our shelter located at 3161 W. Norton Road, Springfield, MO. 📍

Here's how the clinic works:

🐾 Registration will begin at 9am. When you arrive, come inside without your pet(s) to receive a form. Once the form is filled out completely, return it to us to receive a number. This number is your spot in line. Then, all guests should be prepared to wait in their vehicle with their pet(s) until their number is called. Once your number is called, bring your pet(s) inside and our staff will take it from there!

🐾 For your pet's safety, all dogs must be on leashes and all cats must be in carriers during the entire duration of their visit to the shelter. If you are bringing multiple cats, please separate them and use an individual cat carrier for each cat.

🐾 The clinic will run until 80 people are registered or 1pm, whichever comes first. You can call us at 417-833-2526 anytime that day to check on the status of the clinic.

- Individual Vaccines: $12 each
- Cat Package (FVRCP, Rabies): $20
- Dog Package (Bordetella, DHPP, Rabies): $30
- Dog Package with Lepto: $40
- Microchip: $25 each

It’s the beginning of the new year and we want to make sure all of our Critters that require core vaccines are protected and our sitters are protected. If your pet is due or has had a vaccine updated, please make sure you send us a copy of the vaccine certificate so we can update that in our system. We do require rabies to be current in dogs and cats. We highly recommend the other core vaccines, but are not required. Our email is [email protected] if you need to email us updated vaccines.

“I grew up on a farm- horses, cattle
and always loving each. Indoors was a menagerie 😊 cats, dogs, ferrets, finches! Never a dull moment and wouldn’t trade it for the world! It taught me patience and kindness for pets and to this day, love them all!”
