Congratulations are also in order for some of our wonderful friends after their many successes at the Tucker, GA North American Sport Dog Association trial!

⭐️ Sonia’s Obi trialed in Saturday’s Urban Locating and Lost Items, coming home with multiple Qs and placements. We can’t say we are surprised; Obi is a searching expert! His Mom has done a wonderful job training him to find not only her own objects (the goal of Level 1), but to search out lost items from other people as well (required for Level 2). Rats are no trouble, either! Obi always solves the problem, no matter how difficult we’ve made the hides in practice. That most certainly transferred to the trial environment, as he was able to puzzle out the more difficult Level 2 hides with no problem. Fab job Team Oberon!

⭐️ Katie’s Arrow and Beau debuted this weekend, showing just how well barn hunt training can cross over into NASDA. Even without prior Urban Locating experience, both of these fabulous dogs figured the game out in no time flat. They had some really lovely, beautifully handled searches, and they each came away with their Level 1 UL titles in a weekend! Good job Team Beau & Arrow!

⭐️ Mozzie man and his Mom, Stacey, swept all the top placements at Saturday’s Level 2 UL trials! He was 3/3 High in Trial and Best of Breed for the day. Mozzie is an expert barn hunter, and certainly knows his stuff when it comes to sniffing out rattos anywhere they might hide. After recently returning to sports following a health scare, we are absolutely thrilled to see him feeling himself and enjoining life to the fullest! Yay Team Mozzie!

⭐️ Ariel and Ziggy also had their NASDA debut this weekend, and wow what a time they had! Ziggy is a great little barn hunter, and did some fabulous work solving complex hides when he dropped in to our Rat Games class. This team has truly taken to heart one of our most recommended tips: Training in a wide variety of environments and facilities to ensure a trial environment will be no biggie. That dedication to proofing skills certainly paid off, as mister Ziggy went 6/6 this weekend. This earned him his UL-1 and points towards his Level 2 title as well. Fantastic job Team Ziggy!

Finally, huge congratulations to *all* the teams who got to play this weekend! We saw some beautiful work from both the dogs and their handlers. We’re so thrilled with everyone’s success, and can’t wait to do it all again! 🎉

Yesterday our trainer, Meghan, got to do a thing! We have been so excited to see North American Sport Dog Association events finally making their way to this part of the country, so when a trial opened up in Tucker, GA that meshed with Meghan’s schedule she jumped at the chance to join in. With two Shorthairs that live to hunt in tow, it was sure to be a critter finding extravaganza! 🐀

Each dog ran in all three Urban Locating trials, bringing home:

🎉 Tavi: Qs in all three trials, High in Trial (among all entrants) x2, Best of Breed (among all GSPs) x2, and a New Urban Locating Lv1 (UL-1) Title!

⭐️ Fina: Qs in all three trials, the third High in Trial, and the third Best of Breed! She was only 6 points shy of her title, too.

We are so excited by these results, but the real icing on the cake was getting to see so many familiar faces do so well with their dogs, too! Search areas for Sunday’s UL Level 1 trials were all outdoors, adding a bit of challenge and distraction to the game. And wow, what a wonderful group of two and four-legged participants! It was very fun to watch the various dog/handler teams work together to solve the search puzzles presented.

The camaraderie at this trial was lovely, and it was such a blast to see so many familiar faces. We really loved having some wonderful friends come to cheer us on, too! Hats off to Canine Country Academy for hosting and for putting in the leg work to bring NASDA to Georgia, to Wow-In Sync/Mister Miggs for being such a great venue, to our judge and volunteers for making the day happen, and to Katie Ball with Beau & Arrow Images for spending her day off taking photos for all of us! We can’t wait for the next one!

In this class, we'll build on the Foundations course by starting to put together obstacle sequences and introducing contact equipment.

Things to bring: A well-fitted flat collar, 4-6 ft leash, high-value training treats, a high-value toy, and water for your dog.

These classes are appropriate for dogs of any skill level, as we tailor each exercise to each individual. From brand new dogs to experienced teams, all are welcome!

For teams interested in trialing, this class is also a fantastic away to prepare to participate in NASDA's Urban Locating events. It is also a great chance to let your barn hunt dogs try something new, and hunt in a different environment.

Nosework is a wonderful game for any dog! In this introductory course we will use your dog’s primary reward (food) to teach them the foundation of the game, get them focused on the search, and build their intensity to hunt. The human part of the team will also hone their observational skills as they discover how to read their dog’s body language and begin to learn their search style.

We finally have some openings for one of our most popular classes! If you've been wanting to try Indoor Rat Games, now is the time to sign up.

In this fun-filled class dogs will learn to use their nose to hunt for a pair of rats hidden in a strong wooden quarry box (rats are always kept safe, and neither dogs or humans will have direct contact with the rats). Each search takes place in the comfort of the AC, and every turn presents a new puzzle to solve! This class is a great way to give your dogs some action packed enrichment, or even to prepare trialing in NASDA's Urban Locating class!

Our pool will be closed for repair until 8/8. All appointments and private lessons are canceled until then.

Our “Let’s Try Swimming” class scheduled for this Thursday, 7/25, is also cancelled. We will be refunding everyone signed up, and will release a new date for the class soon.

For our two swim and dock diving classes starting 3/3, we will contact you closer to that date if the class will need to be postponed by a week. ☺️
