Our last spotlight of the week turns to Ty Sanders. Ty is an 18-year-old senior at Mount Vernon High School. He first went c**nhunting when he was 4 years old and started back hunting this year. He qualified for the championship with 210 points and 3 cast wins. Heading into the last qualifying hunt of the year he was on the outside looking in and needed to double up and have some help to be able to qualify for the championship. He did just that and punched his ticket to be able to hunt for $1,000 on Saturday. He likes c**nhunting as it gives him something to do. He will be hunting Cracker Jack owned by Randall Powell. He enjoys hunting Jack and feels that his hunting style depends on how the c**ns are moving and that he is a pretty accurate hound. He has enjoyed the Breaking Curfew Series and feels that it is a good opportunity for kids. He would like to thank the staff of the Breaking Curfew Series and Randall Powell for letting him hunt his dog.

Our third qualifier is 10-year-old Holden Hawkins. Holden is a 5th grader at Rivercrest Elementary in Bogota. Holden was in this similar position last year as he was in the final four of our championship last year. Holden had a total of 220 points and 3 cast wins in this year’s series. Holden has been c**nhunting for around 3 years and got into hunting with the help of Randy Norris. He thinks c**n hunting is cool because you get to learn stuff about your dog. He will be hunting his dog Squaw on Saturday. He likes her because she is nice, kind, is a good hunter and is a tree dog. Holden says “ if she’s barking, you know there has to be a c**n in the tree.” Holden likes the Curfew Series because he gets to meet other kids his age. He would like to thank Randy Norris and his dad for helping him learn how to c**nhunt and to everyone that has had a hand in putting on the Curfew Hunts. He wants to tell all of the kids hunting on Saturday good luck.

Today our spotlight turns to Derricke Owens. Derricke is a 15 year old Freshman at Frankston High School. He qualified for Saturdays Championship Cast in the number 2 spot with 230 total points and 3 cast wins. He, like Anderson, hunted in all 8 qualifying casts in this year’s series. Derricke has been c**nhunting around a year and a half. He likes the competition aspect of hunting and enjoys the good people and good friends that this sport attracts. He got into hunting with the help of his Big Brother Derrick Fields and his Uncle Mark Gilmore. Derrick will be hunting his dog Slim in Saturday’s finale. He says Slim is a trail type dog that doesn’t make many mistakes. He generally is looking to get treed and have a c**n. He has enjoyed the curfew series as he likes getting to know the other youth hunters and making new friends. He would like to thank God, his Brother Derrick, Uncle Mark, his Godfather Don Gilmore and the many friends and family that have helped him with the sport.

Each day leading up to the finals of the Texas Breaking Curfew Championship we are going to highlight each of our four finalists.

Today we highlight Anderson Pearce. Anderson is the youngest qualifier in the finals at 8 years old. Anderson is a 2nd grader in Athens, Texas. Anderson is the 2022 Curfew Series Leader earning 280 points. He is one of the 3 hunters to hunt in every qualifying event this year. He racked up 4 cast wins on his way to claiming his place on top of the leader board when the dust settled. Anderson has been c**nhunting for around 5 years. He likes c**nhunting because it is fun and entertaining. He has hunted his Papa’s ,Van Pearce, dog Lilly in every qualifying hunt this year and will be hunting her on Saturday. He likes her because she has a good nose and will trail until she has a c**n. He has enjoyed the Breaking Curfew Series because it is fun hunting with kids his age. He would like to thank his Mom, dad and his Papa for getting him involved and for brining him to the hunts. Good Luck Anderson!
