🤷‍♀️ unfortunately so true... from kids to horses that come in, some kids don't understand the work required & I can tell by the horse who gets the proper exercise at home & which one don't

Life really is all about the practice, but because people don't like to discipline themselves to the practice, they get distracted by their desires for wanting that quick fix (the quick high) instead of learning how to create a "high" with longevity, that lasts throughout life.

When we learn to love "the practice", we can create a lasting state of bliss regardless of what we do or do not have, and regardless of life circumstances.

2023 showed me what I had to lose, but by God's grace it's only temporary 🙌
Time to get my mind & soul right for 2024!

Ride like you have nothing to lose.

When we’ve been doing this for a long time; when we have a lot of experience and knowledge of the sport; when we’ve built a reputation and acquired some personal belongings; when we’ve made millions of mistakes… we tend to back off.

We start thinking about all the negative consequences of the horse becoming a run-off, a barrel crasher, refusing the gate, loosing weight, etc.—What will people think? Will the owner take the horse home? Will I ever be able to sell this horse? We remember every time we made an error in training and we try to avoid that situation by backing off and training more slowly and correctly.

The result—a slower, more correct horse......that doesn’t win a damn thing.

You MUST ride like you have nothing to lose!

Why?

Because there is a younger, less experienced trainer/ rider out there who has nothing to lose, everything to prove and WILL ride accordingly! This takes true courage.

The courage to accept that failure is a possibility. That you may lose much of what you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

But the consequences of NOT laying it all on the line are dire.

If you don’t push the envelope, your soul will suffer a slow, agonizing defeat and those past accolades will no longer matter.

So muster up all the courage you have and ride like you have nothing to lose.

You may wonder why we pull back into the syringe when giving injections in the vein. This picture explains why. We don't pull back to make sure we're in the vessel, we do it to make sure we're in the RIGHT vessel. Today I went to give an injection and pulled back and saw blood brighter than I wanted. I decided to go and get a new dose of sedation and once again pulled back and then gave my dose of sedation. The syringe on the left was my first injection and the syringe on the right was my second injection. Does anyone know why I shouldn't have injected that first syringe? And had I injected that first injection, what would have happened?

Totally agree!! I tried one time to grab my over & under after the 3rd & the time it took me to grab it I noticed I sat up & my hand came back, I knew right then never again. If my hands go forward so does my horse with no pause let me grab my whip. It's still on my saddle but for decipline only & only when needed. Money feels me reach for it & straightens up like a kid you just told you're getting the belt! 🤪🤣🤣🤣

Let’s talk WHIPS.

95% of you… (including yours truly!) are/will be faster… if you hang your whip back up in your trailer.

It’s a distraction in most instances.

It takes focus away from your riding.

When you sit up to whip one, you are by default asking your horse to slow down.

Instead, focus on riding to your spots. Work with your horse and stay out of the way. Smooth is fast, and if you can ride to your best effort, I promise you will see a change on the clock.
