Breckenridge Animal Clinic will be on call for Memorial Day weekend. ER care starts after we close Saturday at noon until 10 pm and 8 am to 10 pm Sunday and Monday. We hope not to see you but we’ll be there if you need us.

McFlurry came in for a bandage change and upgraded to pink! Don’t let those googoo eyes fool you she got treats the whole time 🦴😉 McFlurry has a pin and external fixator to help her broken leg heal. She is currently in the care of a foster who is working with Summit County Animal Shelter 💕🐾

This is Renee! She has been working at the clinic for 13 years. Renee is a great listener and easy to talk to. She is hardworking, efficient, and caring. On her free time she enjoys hunting with her dogs! Renee is a huge part of why our team here at the clinic is so great. We love all of our technicians and the care we give to our patients is reflected in the incredible dedication and hardwork they put in! Happy tech month 👏💪👏

This is Lindsay one of our vet techs holding sweet Oliver. Lindsay is a beacon of positivity. She loves all animals but as you can see here her weakness is small dogs. Lindsay is overflowing with geniune kindness. She always makes patients feel at ease and comforted when they come into the clinic. Outside of the workplace she is a talented writer! We are so greatful to Lindsay for the amazing energy she brings to the clinic everyday 🌞

There is nothing quite like Kristie’s beaming smile when you walk in the clinic. Just don’t be offended when most of the time it is directed at your furry friend! Kristie is an artist at heart and made the gorgeous mural of breckenridge and paper mache animals displayed behind the front desk. She is always on top of it, never calls in sick, and can be counted on to have the best advice. Kristie is dedicated and caring. We couldnt do it without her! 😻🫶

We want to celebrate our veterinary technicians in honor of the hard work and dedication that they bring in to work everyday.

In the spotlight today is our technician Meg holding Morris 😻 Meg has been working here almost 12 years and we are so lucky to have her. She is hardworking, driven, charismatic, and she is not afraid to give it you straight! She also runs puppy classes here at the clinic. Not only do you get valuable information but you also get to watch puppys play! What is cuter than that?! Shoutout to Meg!

Cat is still peeing outside of the litter box?
As promised here are some things to try: -Cleaning the litter box more often
-Moving the litter box to a quiet and isolated place
-Having one more litter box than your number of cats
-Spraying Feliway near the box (Feliway is a comforting feline pheromone),
-Trying a new type of litter. We recommend litter without fragrance.

If you’re not sure whether it might be a medical or behavioral issue give us a call! We will help you sort it out.

Is your cat peeing outside of the litter box? This could be a medical issue or it could be a behavioral problem. If this is out of the ordinary it might a medical issue.

Medical issues might include a UTI, crystalluria, or hyperthyroidism and should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Nothing quite like a dip in the cool water after a long hike but careful what you drink! These waters carry Giardia, Leptospirosis, and many more bacteria that can cause some nasty no fun diarrhea. We say after 48 hours it is difficult for our furry friends to fight diarrhea off themselves so that is when it is time to make an appointment!

Here in Breckenridge we are seeing more and more ticks in the area. Never fear! We do 4DX which is a parasitic disease screen. It tests for Lyme, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, and even Heartworm! Ask us about tick prevention for your pet.

Flea, tick, and heartworm season here in Summit County is May - Oct. This means getting flea and tick preventative for May - Oct and heartworm preventative for June - Nov. If you are traveling with your pet outside of the county we recommend getting them covered year round!

As Summit County continues to get warmer, the number of heartworm disease cases continues to increase. Dog travel from heartworm endemic regions to Summit County also contributes to rising cases. Breckenridge Animal Clinic provides Proheart 6 (month) and 12 (month) injections to protect your dog from heartworms. Monthly oral parasite preventatives are also available.
