Rescue is so many things. It is Determination even when its so hard. Hope. Love. Risk with so much Reward. These animals have history and go through things we will never know about so sometimes we get hit with medical cases we were not expecting-- which is the case with our mohawk wearing, laundry stealing Max.

We noticed Max limping on his left rear leg, so we brought him in to get x-rays done. His imaging surprised us ! We learned that Max had major surgery in the past- his right leg has been repaired with plates and wires. But... Max is limping on the left leg. His left hip shows that he has severe hip dysplasia with a lot of scarring and arthritis in the joint. This instability of the joint causes his hopping gait when he runs and muscle deterioration of his leg- because its painful for him to use it normally.
This means that Max needs a orthopedic surgery called FHO- femoral head osteotomy. This surgery will take the head of his femur off and out of that joint to relieve the pain.

We need to raise at least $1,000 for Max's surgery and treatments. Can you help him? Any amount helps us reach our goal for him to have the life he deserves !

Thank you to Brian Harpstrite and friends who hosted a New Year's Eve event at the New Baden Legion/Baden Bowl. While 21 teams rang in the new year, they also raised money and supplies for CCHS and the New Baden K9 program. We appreciate your kindness and generosity!

🐾❄️ Cold Weather Safety Tips ❄️🐾

A significant winter storm is expected to impact Southern Illinois on Sunday and Monday, bringing heavy snow, sleet, and ice to the area. Below freezing air temperatures and wind chills are expected through next week so whatever precipitation falls will be sticking around.

Freezing temperatures, snow, and ice can create a lethal environment for pets and strays. As we gear up for the extreme weather headed our way, we must remember to prepare our pets. Spending only 30 minutes outside in below freezing temperatures can lead to frostbite and hypothermia for some dogs, especially shorter-haired breeds. ALL pets would ideally be indoors with access to fresh water. Don’t forget that at these temperatures, water can freeze within minutes and become undrinkable. If a pet must be kept outside, owner responsibility requires easy access to appropriate shelter, water, and food. Shelters should be dry and draft-free. Turn the entry away from wind and cover the doorway with burlap or heavy plastic. Use an elevated bed inside the dog house, so they are not laying directly on the freezing ground. Use straw instead of blankets and towels for bedding.

Limit Outdoor Time:
Pets can get frostbite or hypothermia quickly in freezing temperatures. Keep walks short and never leave them outside for extended periods without adequate and well insulated shelter from the precipitation.🐾

Provide Warm Shelter:
If pets must be outdoors, ensure they have access to a well-insulated, dry shelter that is elevated off the ground, with bedding like straw. Indoors is always best!🐾

Keep Them Hydrated & Fed:
Pets burn more calories in the cold to stay warm. Provide fresh, unfrozen water and extra food if needed, especially for the outdoor animals.🐾

Check Their Shelter: If your pet is outside, make sure they have an insulated, dry shelter filled with straw.🐾

Check Paws After Walks And Outdoor Time: Ice, snow, salt, and ice melt can irritate paws. Wipe them clean and watch for cracks, redness, and irritation. If needed, there are pet booties that can be worn for extra protection.🐾

Beware of Toxic Winter Chemicals:
Antifreeze and de-icing salts can be hazardous to pets.🐾

🥳🥳ADOPTED!!

⭐️⭐️NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS- PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE WORK THROUGH THE LARGE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS⭐️⭐️

Kringle 🎄🎄 is a 5 month old goldendoodle puppy. Currently weighs 30 lbs but will be large when full grown likely- he is already very tall. He is kennel trained-not housebroken that we are aware of. He will require FREQUENT professional grooming- every 6 weeks most likely due to his hair texture. He is VERY vocal and loves to play-typical puppy chaos. Rides very well in a car.

IF INTERESTED SUBMIT APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE. ❤️🤍

The Christmas spirit of giving has been ongoing at Clinton County Humane Society! We have been overwhelmed at the amount of donations, both supplies and monetary, arriving and can't thank you enough for the support!

Special shout outs to Hilary Frost as they were the sponsors of the Christmas Pet Special that not only raised money, but also supplies. Edward Jones in Germantown who collected supplies. 1NB employees who chose CCHS as their cause of choice to donate to. K & J who collected supplies for us. So many other countless individuals and businesses as well to thank!

All of your kindness and generosity is appreciated. Happy Holidays!
