Socialization and exercise are two key components for good health in both dogs and their humans. For local dogs, Karen’s Bark Park provides an outlet for both! Here, dogs will enjoy stretching their legs, running, playing ball, meeting other dogs and their humans.
Located in the southeast section of Bremen near Jane’s Park, the dog park is part of the Town of Bremen’s park system. While visiting the dog park, you may see children in adjacent fields playing soccer, baseball, football or running cross country. In the near distance, across Woodie’s Lane, you will see the town sledding hill. The east side of the dog park is bordered by a farm field, where you might see corn or soybeans, depending on the year. Beyond that is a wetland and wooded area, which is easily accessible via a paved walking path.
Karen’s Bark Park is divided into two spaces: one designed for larger dogs and the other for smaller dogs. Both sides have two benches and a shade tree for human relaxation, along with clean-up bags and trash receptacles to keep the park clean for everyone. A dual-height water fountain located just outside the park’s entrance will keep both humans and dogs hydrated.
In order to use Karen’s Bark Park, humans need to register their dogs with the Town of Bremen. Just visit the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office at the Bremen Town Hall (corner of Plymouth and Center Streets) with your most recent vaccination papers from the vet. They will verify that your dog is healthy, then issue a dog tag to your pet to show proof of registration. (There is a fee of $2.) Easy peasy!
