Have you ever noticed that your pup twitches while theyâre sleeping? Thatâs because dogs dream as well with comparable sleep patterns to humans. Not just that but they also have a âsixth sense.â Your pooch can sense things before they happen and show that by acting out with hiding, weird behavior, and whining. Dogs are truly one of a kind. Stay pawsome! Give us a call at (360) 377-0078 to schedule a visit.
As a pet parent, we hope you never have to go through an emergency. However, if you do, make sure you have this list handy so you know when to bring your pet in case of an emergency.

Here's another interesting Quiz/post. This cat, Molly, presented to us a few weeks ago for a spay surgery. She was just taken in as a stray cat and was getting updated on her physical examination, labwork, vaccinations, flea treatments, and stool sample evaluation to screen for intestinal parasites, etc. Under the microscope at 400x magnification, we founds a huge number of these larvae in her stool sample. What are these structures? What disease do they cause? Why is it so important to accurately diagnose and property treat these parasites? ((Note: better, close-up photos are attached under the comments section below))
One week ago today these kittens (about 4 mos old) were very shy unsocialized "wild" kittens. Today they are part of our family. Their parents are a veterinarian and veterinary nurse. And they lay on a king bed playing virtual "Mouse for Cats" on an iPad. You have to love the 21st Century.
Crazy Friday night entertainment in the Luttinen home tonight. Watching our cats play with the Mouse App on the iPad. Super funny!
This is a fairly common, bizarre, and scary case we see in older dogs. This is Caesar and he is about 11 years old. He came to us about three weeks ago for a possible euthanasia ("put to sleep") as his mom was concerned that he may either have had a stroke or a brain tumor. While those can occur in dogs, fortunately they are way less common than what Caesar really has. The important physical (neurologic) findings seen in Caesar are 1) a left sided head tilt and 2) a horizontal nystagmus (his eyes are flickering side to side with the slow phase of the cycle toward the left). This is called a peripheral vestibular condition with the "lesion" on the left side of the head. The most common cause of these findings is called "idiopathic vestibular disease" (aka "old dog vestibular disease"). Which essentially means we don't know what causes it but the dog has "motion sickness-like symptoms". What's most bizarre is that the condition typically resolves itself with only one treatment: TIME, which can range from a few days to a few weeks (in some cases longer). We gave him a medication similar to Dramamine and the clients kept him in a quiet environment. He should do just fine! :-)
