I am so late at posting! But we had another amazing gymkhana last weekend! Mikaela, Chantel, Sophie, Dallas, Caitlyn, Jazmine, Adrianna, Savannah, Brooke, and Natalie all did fantastic and many ribbons were had all around! What another wonderful day at the gymkhana!

Mikaela and Mimosa have become such an amazing team and got their first first place today!

Miriam and Rosie came out and had some amazing runs today and a beautiful barrel run!

Savannah and Reba did amazing and placed in every event!

Adrianna and Fancy had some of the best runs they’ve ever had and their turns were beautiful!

Brooke and Gunner did so good working in control and correctness!

Dallas and Peaches had their best single stake run and worked through some sassiness!

Caitlyn and Sorchia had their very first gymkhana today and did so good, placing in the top ten out of 16 in most of her events!

Fiona and Arrow had some smoking fast runs and are just getting better and better!!!

So proud of these kiddos and how hard they’ve worked to get here! They stick it out through all the ups and downs and just keep showing up and working hard! They never give up and always show support for their team mates and fellow competitors! Just truly an amazing group of people! ❤️❤️

And thank you to all of the wonderful parents who have raised these amazing kids! We wouldn’t be here with out you! 🩵🩵🩵

A few months ago, we decided to take a step back from lessons and reevaluate our program. Due to high costs of living and care for the horses, we knew changes had to be made. We have revamped our lesson program, added more structure and are ready to accept new students again. We are excited to announce that we now have openings on Mondays and Thursdays.

Our facilities include a covered arena- great during hot summer days and those rainy winter days, a large outdoor arena, a huge round pen, and we have timers so we can track your times and progress!

Students must be ages 8 years and up
Already own a horse? No problem, haul-ins are welcome or board here for the full experience.

*We are also fully insured*

Long post BUT!!!!! Wow! Wow! Wow! I am so DANG proud of all these kids!!! Everyone did amazing!

Mikaela did so good with Mimosa and had some of her best runs!

Rose and Piper had some of their personal bests bringing home all the ribbons!

Sophie and Maude!!! Holy smokes! Got high point today and had a smoking barrel run!

Jazmine (Who didn’t make rhe photo!! 😭) also brought home high point today! She didnt run today, she flew!!!!

Stella and Pebbles were on fire today, laying down some of their best times!

Dallas and Peaches had their first gymkhana today and absolutely killed it!! Placing in all of her events!

Savannah and Reba had a bit of a struggle but handled everything in stride!

Adrianna and Fancy had their first gymkhana together today and just did so amazing!

Hannah had some fantastic runs on Azno and rode the best I’ve ever seen!!

Brooke handled everything Gunner threw at her and persevered! Even brought home ribbons!!

Fiona and Arrow were flying today! She has some of the fastest times today!

Gavin rode Jack at his first gymkhana and took everything in stride and Jack did fantastic! I can’t wait to see this team grow!!

My heart is full and I am beyond proud of every single one of the these kids!!! They have been working their fannys off!!

A lot of changes have been happening here at KP Performance Horses! We have been working on restructuring our program and making room to allow us to focus on training 🐴 horses.

Miss Xena came to get started and has been with us for about 6 months and will be heading out mid April to start her track career 🐎! I can’t wait to see what she’ll do!

Big Rick came to us about a month ago for a restart. He was previously only track broke and then had three years off. He’s currently on his second ride as we had to wait for his teeth 😬 to get done before we were able to ride him. He’s such a good boy!

Rayna came to us on the first for a good tune up! She is 5 years old and quite a chunk! She’s already done so great with one ride in the books! We will definitely be working on getting her nice and fit! 💪🏻

And we of course can’t forget our sweet rescue Miss Penny! She is doing fantastic and did a little lunge for the first time today ❤️❤️

📣📣I just needed to pop on here real quick for an appreciation post! 👀 LOOK at Harper and Kimber‼️ Harper has been riding with me for maybe a little over a year now, (maybe two 🤷🏼‍♀️). She’s had a lot of ups and downs, she started half leasing a horse and they did amazing together, she out grew her half lease and was ready for a step up horse. We found a horse for a full lease and they did great together at first but then things kinda fell apart and they weren’t getting along, at no fault of Harper. THEN Kimber came in to her life and all made sense again. Harper is doing so amazing with Kimber. They are learning to trust each other and are becoming a team! Harper had her confidence shaken but Kimber is helping build it back up and I can’t WAIT to see where these two go! ❤️❤️❤️

It’s still pretty wet, but SIGNIFICANTLY better! We should be good for lessons tomorrow! We’ll see what the rain brings the rest of the week!

If anyone is wondering how I keep my horses feeling comfortable and going strong, check out Equine Therapy by Shannon! She keeps my horses feeling fit and comfortable! This is my horse over the past year, getting better and better and better!

This girl!!! Last time at this arena she hit a barrel and the next time she ran ran a 20.2. Tonight she ran a 17.790!!!! SHE IS KILLING IT!!! I could not be more proud of her! She out there living the dream and giving it her all! CONGRATULATIONS TO Carli Floris and Sheriff!!

About Kate Pence

My name is Kate Pence and I have been riding and training horses for 25+ years.

Over the years I have had the privilege of riding and studying under some amazing trainers. I started learning to ride under the instruction of my mother Judy Pence, who has a bachelors degree in animal science and was a star rider in the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo c**t starting program and barn manager at a premier Arabian show barn.

When I was 13 I started training with David Ventura, a well known Dressage trainer in the Brentwood, CA area. I rode with him for 15 years learning to communicate with horses through seat and leg commands instead of pulling on their face and mouth. From there I went to ride with my aunt, Rebecca Pence who helped me become a better Hunter/Jumper, schooling me to my first, first place ribbon in the jumping arena.

I then became interested in barrel racing and started training my AQHA mare, from there we went on to compete in NBHA for 3 seasons going to state finals twice. My mare and I won belt buckles and a championship saddle together. After retiring my mare I started training her daughter in, yet another discipline under the instruction of Anthony Peixoto, a talented and amazing cutting trainer. I have been riding and training with him for the past three years and still continue to do so.
