Two weeks ago Quill and I ventured to her first Scentwork trial in I can’t tell you how long it’s been for her! And even worse, I can’t even tell you the last time I trained Quill! She’s been busy with mommy duties for the last year and now that she is ‘retired’ from breeding she can get back to the activities that she enjoys! So on a whim I entered her and she did not disappoint!

Pending AKC Quill has added two new titles to her repertoire…
Scentwork Interior Advanced (SIA)
and
Scentwork Exterior Advanced (SEA)

Hopefully Quill and I can catch up with our training and trialing in the upcoming year!

•Have you and your dog been training agility?

•Are you running sequences of 11-15 obstacles?

•Is your dog proficient at jumps and contacts but might not be ‘solid’ on weaves yet?

•You want to see what your dog might do in a different setting than where you practice?

•Is your dog 15 months or older?

If your answer is yes to any of these questions, you and your dog might be eligible to do AKC’s Agility Course Test program! This is a virtual program that allows dogs to earn an agility title (as long as they do NOT have an AKC agility title).

If you are interested in potentially earning the ACT titles, DM me for more information!

Edit to add: This is NOT agility lessons! Dogs need to be already running sequences and proficient with contacts. This is an opportunity to do the ACT virtually. NO instructions will be given!

When you neglected your arena all summer because you had a litter of puppies, you have to torch the dry grass before you can run your ring conditioner on it!

Gearing up with a few students who talked me into doing ACTs (Agility Course Test). I’ve been wanting to finish up doing them with Quill, so am looking forward to getting Quill back into the swing of things now that she’s done being a mom. Time to get busy finishing up earning those titles!

We so enjoy doing competitions and training our own dogs as well as other owners and their dogs. Reach out to us if you are interested in doing competitive dog sports, we’d love to help you reach your goals!

As some might know the reason why the word ‘Peake’ is misspelled in the name of my training center is because I breed, show, train, and compete with ChesaPEAKE Bay Retrievers under the AKC registered kennel name of Whiskey Creek.

This is a long shot, but…

I sold my Dually truck several months ago. I don’t have ‘seller remorse’ for selling it because it was more truck than what I really needed (F-350 dually) for the few times I drove it during the year (literally like less than a dozen times per year!) since I no longer ride horses or have cattle. 

The ‘but’ comes in here…
I need a truck on the odd occasion I NEED a truck, like hauling garbage off or hauling stuff I don’t want in Ellie (my Element) or the van (I just don’t want GARBAGE IN my van!). I could borrow Jerry’s truck, but the most convenient time for me to take his truck is when he isn’t working, and WHEN is he not working- NEVER!!!

I’m a Ford girl. I’d love to find an older Ford F250 long bed (would consider a 6’ bed, but nothing shorter- if they even made 250’s with a shorter bed), any cab style (regular, extended, or crew) gas engine (really prefer it to be a gas engine) with a 411 rearend (but that would just be a bonus, not a dealbreaker). It HAS to be 4WD. It can be manual or automatic. I don’t care (too much) about how it looks, but it needs to be mechanically sound.

I had an ‘89 F250 LWB SRA regular cab truck that I loved. Sadly someone else loved it more than I did and stole it off my property. I miss that truck more than my dually!

Any chance anyone out there has a truck like this that is looking for a new home?

I’m in Western NC and would happily travel if the right truck presented itself.

This is my 13 week old puppy, Bertha, fourth time doing scentwork. 10 open containers. I did NOT teach or encourage the down at the odor she started doing that today on her own. I couldn’t be any happier with how she has taken to the sport!

Bert is also training for Rally, Conformation, and Hunt Tests!

This boy has come leaps and bounds since his first lesson. His person said he probably wouldn’t tunnel or climb and I’ve got him doing both happily!

According to his person, he BARKS from the time she turns off the main road till he gets to the farm!
