At BVH we do something called “Treasured Thursdays”.

Typically, we send our staff love notes from clients to keep their spirits high and hear how wonderful of a job they do day in and day out.

Today, Treasured Thursday was a little different.

It was more like being at the end of a rainbow with the biggest pot of gold, or like finding the “x” marks the spot on a treasure map, because we got to meet our newest BVH addition, BRUTUS! 🌈 🗺️

We were excited when Dad (and long time client, and more importantly, friend) let us know that he was adding a new addition, but nothing could’ve prepared us for this!

Brutus, you are wonderful. We loved your brother so dearly, and can not wait to go on this new journey with you! We are so lucky we get to watch you grow up! Welcome to the fam 🐾 💙

Side note:
You didn’t hear this from us but.. Dr. Kaser may or may not have shared some cheese with Brutus 😜🤣

Today we celebrate World Veterinary Day 🌍

It goes without saying that our team are some of the kindest, compassionate, heart felt, strong, smart, bad to the bone, kick-butt, wears our paw on our sleeves, all around wonderful super-humans. It is an honor to work along such phenomenal veterinarians day in and day out, saving one paw at a time 🐾

So join us in screaming HAPPY WORLD VETERINARY DAY to our colleagues all around the world! You are seen, you are appreciated, you are loved. May we continue to be voices for those who can not speak, and provide top notch care, maintaining the human-animal bond 💙🐾

🐾 car rides, they don’t make London feel the greatest, but we’re here to help with that!

Guess who came in for her senior exam today?
THE ONE, THE ONLY, BRIDGET! 💙🐾

For those of you unfamiliar with her story, Dr. Kaser helped re-home Bridget after a long term client fell unable to care for her any longer. While it’s not something we do often, we were able to match her with her perfect fit!

We are glad to report Bridget is still happier than ever at her fur-ever home! (although she still does not like having her picture taken while here lol)

What a feeling it was watching her happy prance through the door ready to greet us all and see Dr. Kaser for her exam!

Bridget, you’ll always have a piece of our heart (and we’re pretty sure everyone in the extended BVH families heart), we are so happy we get to continue to care for you!

Strut your stuff for a great cause!

Join us this Sunday (June 2nd) for an exciting Mutt Strut in Provincetown, brought to you by Provincetown Brewing Co.

Registration is at 2 p.m. with the Mut Strutt starting at 3! A donation of $10 is suggested. The proceeds help our mission to help provide financial assistance for veterinary care for critically ill or injured dogs and cats on Cape Cod and the Islands when owners cannot afford treatment.

Nothin’ kicks off the week like puppy playtime!

This morning, we put Pete and Tyler to work “lab” testing our treats. After multiple tastings to make sure they got it right, all treats have been approved! 🐶

Pete was sure to get his next set of puppy vaccines and a “paw-dicure” after such hard work. Tyler, our four-legged staff member, supported him through the entire process.

We think it’s safe to say they’re the dream team!

🌎 HAPPY WORLD VETERINARY DAY 2024 🌍
“Veterinarians are essential health workers".

They are the voices for your pets. Their primary care doctors. Their specialists. Their surgeons. Often all at once.

They are the definition of kindness and compassion. The ones who are there for an entire life span of your pet. From first visits, to their very last visit, your veterinarians experience a life with both you and your pets.

They get to know their patients, their likes and dislikes, what makes them comfortable during visits, what doesn’t work for them.

They often take home the high of the best visits, and carry the weight of the worst visits, right along with you.

They are superhuman. They hear what isn’t able to be said. They remedy the unknown. They LOVE hard, limitless, in fact, and treat every patient as if they were their own.

So today, we celebrate not only our incomparable BVH veterinarians, but all of those around the world who do this hard job day in and day out, without a second thought, no matter how long of hours they work, or how exhausted they are both mentally and physically. They are the unsung hero’s and deserve all the praise. Thank you, veterinarians, for being able to care for our loyal companions and for being the reason we are able to have our pets have longer, healthier lives 💙🐾

We are also celebrating the entire veterinary staff! From the front lines at the front office, the techs and tech assistants who are also lab techs, radiology techs, ultrasound techs, (the list goes on and on and on!) and the veterinary hospital management staff. Every single one of you is a vital part of taking care of patients! You work long hours, you see your patients more than your own pets. You love every single patient that walks through the door. You help make hard decisions. You too, carry the highs of the good and lows of the bad, but you do so gracefully and compassionately. The praise for you all is limitless. Thank you for being veterinary hero’s! 🐶 🐈 🐾💙

Setting the stage: CSR APPRECIATION WEEK! 💙🐾

Today is the first day of CSR (client service representative) appreciation week!

There are not enough words to describe how imperative our front desk staff is! They are the first faces you see when you enter the practice, the first voice you hear on the phone at the time of your phone call, the ones who ensure your pet is seen as timely as possible, and the ones who stop it all in more emergent cases to make sure both our clients and patients get the help they need.

They are masters of communication, and without them we would not be able to have the smooth running flow of the hospital that we do!

So let’s get our party pants on and start the celebrations!

We think it’s safe to say that Dr. Kaser, Wilma Rudolph, and Betty White are all made “fur” each other 🤗

The big dogs, (Old English Mastiff siblings) came by for their first puppy visit with the big guy, and we couldn’t ask for a better way to spend a visit!

Wilma Rudolf and Betty White, we are already obsessed with you! We cannot wait to watch you guys grow! (And grow they will 😉)

🌟 Meet the incredible Dr. William Kaser, DVM, a dedicated board member for the Sampson Fund for Veterinary Care.🐾

With over two decades of veterinary experience, Dr. Kaser serves as the medical director at Brewster Veterinary Hospital and played a pivotal role in establishing Cape Cod's sole emergency and specialty hospital in Dennis. As a board member for over 10 years, Bill offers invaluable expertise in both veterinary and financial matters, ensuring that qualified applicants receive the care they need. Outside work, Dr. Kaser enjoys spending time outdoors and tending to his hobby farm alongside his wife Megan, their three children, and a delightful menagerie of dogs, cats, sheep, chickens, geese, and ducks. 🐶🐱🐑🐔🦢

Psttttttttttttt, we have a not so little secret.

That once a month injection for dogs for osteoarthritis you've been hearing so much about? Yeah, the one called Librela? WE HAVE IT! We've used it, and Colton is here to tell you all about Librela and how its helping him, along with many other dogs, with joint pain and osteoarthritis!

Lets start with the basics, what exactly is Librela?
🐾 Dubbed "A New Era in Pain Management", Librela is a monthly injectable for our canine family that helps control pain and discomfort from Osteoarthritis.

Now introducing, our most handsome patient, Colton! Colton is a 9 year old German Shephard who experienced some joint discomfort and pain in his hind end. Currently, Colton is on his second Librela injection, and so far we've seen him be more active at home, able to take longer walks with mom, has more pep in his step, and even jumps up a little more out of excitement. He is able to keep up with his 2 sisters and 1 brother, and has shown little to no signs of limping after activity.

We had the pleasure of doing Nuggets first senior visit recently! Senior visits are so important for our older, wiser fur-children. These appointments are recommended every six months for both dogs and cats, and include a full exam, full lab work, and blood pressure checks for our feline family (check out Nugget modeling the blood pressure machine in the photos of his tail!)

We also offer “Global Senior” visits which include a Global Fast Ultrasound in addition to everything listed above. Global Fast Ultrasound is a broad screening ultrasound that looks at multiple points of the heart, lungs, and abdomen. It is brief and noninvasive and patients very rarely need sedation. These ultrasound’s are also reviewed by a board certified veterinary specialist. 😉

This week, it is Practice Manager Appreciation Week! They're the backbones of the hospitals, the leaders of the pack, and our special favorite that we often call our own practice manger, the "CHAOS COORDINATORS"!

So lets give a huge round of "app-paws" for our very own BVH Practice Manager, Shayna!

Shayna joined the BVH team back in 2018 as a C.V.T and our nursing supervisor, but if you know Shayna, you know she never wears just one hat. Shortly after being hired, she became our Practice Manager, and has helped build the steady, passionate, reliable, loving practice that you have all come to know and trust. BVH would not be, and could not do, what it does with out such a strong leader! Thank you is never enough Shayna!

Today, class was in session! 👩‍🏫

Our very own Dr. Winer, nursing supervisor Briana, and administrative supervisor Carley, partnered with Brewster Fire Department for Nero’s Law hands on training!

Dr. Winer lead the class, teaching everything from how to assess and handle our four-legged police community, CPR training for them, bandaging wounds and how to stop bleeding, and a multitude of other types of important emergency care should a police dog be injured in the line of duty.

This training, of course, would not have been possible without the companion doggo on duty, Danny, and the handsome, energetic, police doggo Fredy!

Thank you, to the entire Brewster FD, and Yarmouth Police K-9 Fredy (and his human officer Breen, of course!) for having us take part in such important training! It has been an honor and we look forward to continue to work with you to ensure the safest possible outcomes for our canine police community!
