The benefiting month for Pegasus Therapeutic Riding is almost halfway through, but don't worry, there is still time! π Throughout June, every Hannaford Community Bag sold at the Pawling NY store (162 Route 22) will contribute $1 to support Pegasus.
Mr. Blue
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved therapy horse, Mr. Blue. He crossed the rainbow bridge last night, Monday January 8th, 2024 surrounded by the love and comfort of his home at the farm. As Mr. Blue got older, our outstanding barn and veterinary team managed his chronic health issues, always keeping him happy and comfortable. Unfortunately, last night he took a turn for the worse. At 24 years old, Mr. Blue lived a long and happy life and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and unwavering dedication to his role as a therapy horse here at Pegasus.
Once In A Blue Moon, aka, Mr. Blue truly was one of a kind. Joining our herd in 2011, he was at Pegasus longer than most staff and other herd members. Winner of the PATH International Equine of the Year Award in 2016 and the Libby Barnick Therapy Horse of the Year Award at the Pegasus Horse Show in 2015, he was a shining example of all the qualities one could hope for in a therapy horse and earned the nickname βMr. Perfectβ. Mr. Blue loved the participants he worked with, was sweet, gentile, trustworthy, and always willing to try his hardest.
His impact reached far and wide, touching the lives of countless participants, volunteers and staff who had the privilege to work and play alongside him. We want to extend special thanks to the family who so graciously shared his light with us, the Roths. We cannot thank the Roth family enough for choosing Pegasus as a second home and meaningful career for Mr. Blue.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary equine companion, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives and the lasting hoofprint he leaves on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Mr. Blue's legacy as a beacon of kindness and dedication will endure, reminding us of the immeasurable impact one gentle pony can have on the world.

On Thursday, 5/5, we were lucky enough to host a group of volunteers from M&T Bank. This hard-working team helped us to clear and prepare our sensory paddock to become our sensory garden. Being able to bank with a community minded company like M&T means a lot to us. Thank you to M&T Bank and these volunteers for getting your hands dirty!

As you already know, horses are the heart of Pegasusβ mission. The life-changing programs at Pegasus would not exist without our amazing and talented herd.
The average cost of routine horse care at Pegasus is $10,000 annually per horse, and that cost has not changed during the pandemic.
While these past two years were challenging for many, they were also filled with moments of joy, learning, and empowerment. Visit https://gofund.me/a225aaa3 to donate today, #GivingTuesday, to #HelpBuildHorsepower at Pegasus. Thank you!
